The UFC keeps rolling along in Covidland as Alistair Overeem takes on Augusto Sakai in the main event of UFC Vegas 9. There are only 9 fights on the card, so this one will be tricky. I’m a little short on time this week so this will be a little abbreviated. I’d say it’s fitting for such a short card. Anyways, let’s take a look at the salaries and some fighters to target.

Chalk

I’m not a fan of Azure or Kelleher but I like Thiago Moises at $9000. Jalin Turner seems like a really popular dog, something I’m not afraid of. I think Moises’ striking has improved but his ground game is ridiculous. He’ll eventually get this to the ground and I like him to get a submission. I won’t be all in on Moises as Turner’s striking is pretty solid, but I like Moises here.

Mid-Tier

Alistair Overeem, at $8800, will be a fighter I’ll have in quite a few lineups. Yes, his chin is a liability, but his experience and his striking, I think, is a bit too much for Sakai at this point. Say what you about Overeem but the dude is tough as nails and is a legit mixed martial artist. He’s never held UFC gold but his career accomplishments speaks volumes.

Michel Pereira, at $8200, is another guy I like. I’ve said it many times, Pereira is super talented, but the decisions made in his fights are baffling. Pereira is in the last fight of his UFC contract, I expect him to manage his cardio and put on a show.

Dogs

There are quite a few dogs I like on this card. I like Ovince Saint Preux for the same reasons I did back on August 22nd hahaha. Anyways, just survive the early onslaught and take over in the 2nd round. Mennifield’s cardio is so questionable and yeah he hits like a truck but OSP is so durable and so experienced.

I also like Andre Muniz at $7600. Muniz is a severe BJJ black belt, very high level. Fabinski is getting a lot of praise over his win over Darren Stewart, but he won’t be able to lay and pray against Muniz as he is super active off his back and I expect him to get a sub. I really think the wrong guy is favored here.

Cole Miller is worth a look as well, and I may put him in a lineup as I think he’s the superior grappler, and I’m not sold on Azure.

That’s it for this week; best of luck and enjoy the fights! We are in unprecedented times, and it’s pretty cool that we are getting UFC, NHL and NBA playoffs, MLB, College Football and hell even the Kentucky Derby all at once. Enjoy the weekend and stay safe!!!!
