Not much to say about the card last weekend. Bouts canceled, rearranged, whatever. Moving on to this weekend for UFC Vegas 8, as Anthony Smith takes on Alexander Rakic in the main event. Let’s take a look at the salaries.

Sean Brady $9300 – I’ll have Brady in a good number of lineups, he’s a well-rounded guy that had averaged 100.5 fpts in two UFC appearances. Christian Aguilar is coming off a knockout win in a short notice appearance over Anthony Ivy. Aguilar’s past performance might make him a popular dog but I think Brady is much better anywhere the fight goes.

Ricardo Lamas $9200 – I’m going to have Lamas in a few lineups but I certainly won’t be all in because his opponent has a significant size advantage. Lamas is the more well-skilled fighter here but you can’t ignore how he’s been knocked out in 3 of his last 4 fights. I’ll proceed with caution but he has a good chance to score well.

Alexander Rakic $8700 – Some may do the MMA math and say that Anthony Smith beat Volkan Oezdemir and Volkan beat Rakic. Well, Rakic has improved tremendously and Smith has taken a lot of damage, especially in his last fight against Glover Teixeira. If this was a 5 rounder I’d look at this differently, but I think Rakic will be too much early on and could possibly get a 2nd round finish. I just think this is just bad timing for Smith. I may have a lineup or two with Smith but for the most part, it will be Rakic for me.

Impa Kasanguay $8500 – Kasanguay is going to be the bigger guy here and just flat out the better athlete. Pitolo’s fight IQ is questionable and I think the oddsmakers are telling you something making Impa the favorite here. Kasanganay can score well with takedowns and I think he’ll do just that.

Cutelaba/Ankalaev – Winner scores over 100 here…no-brainer.

Robbie Lawler $7600 – Yes, I know Lawler has lost 3 in a row, but one of those was pretty questionable (the loss to Askren). If there is any dog to back it’s Lawler, the guy is a fuckin dog and will fight for your money. I don’t necessarily think Magny can get this to the ground, and if Lawler can keep it standing he has a shot. There’s honestly not many dogs I’m interested in besides putting Smith in a lineup or two. Lawler will be a popular dog too, so maybe you want to put Magny in a lineup or two, but for the most part, I’ll have more Lawler.

This is a tough card for sure from both a betting and a DFS perspective. Enjoy the fights and best of luck!
