Last weekend’s card was an utter shitshow…moving on….

Chalk

I’ll be on Montel Jackson ($9400) and Gregor Gillespie ($9000) for the most part. For Jackson, he should score well, and I look for him to rebound off Brett Johns’s loss. I don’t know if Jackson will get a finish, but he will score well with takedowns and control time. He should score over 100.

I’m still high on Gregor Gillespie, and I think he took a reasonable amount of time off to recover from the knockout loss to Kevin Lee. The only thing that is frustrating about Gillespie is he’s just not active enough. Brad Riddell is a dangerous striker, but I’m sure Gillespie will play it smart and get this to the mat. Riddell’s a good athlete, but he’s not going to keep Gillespie off of him. Gillespie should score well with takedowns and control time and could smother Riddell to the point he gets a late finish.

Mid-Tier

I think at $8200; Roman Dolidze is a bargain. The Georgian product moves down to middleweight, and I think his power will translate well to the new weight. I was impressed with Trevin Giles’s last performance, but while he may be the faster fighter, Dolidze is the better grappler and will be the bigger guy. Dolidze could get a late stoppage here and wear him down. Giles’ cardio has been suspect at times, and I think Dolidze’s pressure is a bad matchup for him.

Grant Dawson is also a good look at $8600.

Dog

I think the wrong guy is favored in the main event, yet I can see why Kevin Holland is favored. He’s coming off a big knockout win over Jacare Souza and has won 5-0. Derek Brunson used to be a fade, but since the move to Sanford MMA, Brunson is an entirely different fighter. His wrestling has always been elite, and he’s always had good power. But what I see from Brunson since the move is he’s more technical with his striking, and his fight IQ is much improved. Brunson also knows his path and takes it, which was evident in his win over Edmen Shahbazyan. Brunson more than likely wins by the decision, but I think he scores well here.

Best of luck with your lineups, and enjoy the fights!!!
