First off I apologize for not getting anything out last week, sometimes life events get in the way. As far as UFC Rio Rancho is concerned, it’s an event I’d like to forget as I’m sure many would…just a disaster.
Anyways, on to UFC Norfolk this weekend where we’ll see Joseph Benavidez take on Davidson Figuierdo for the UFC Flyweight championship. There are some nice fighters to target all across the board. Let’s take a look.
Grant Dawson $9200 – Don’t get me wrong, I like Spencer and Anderson and I think their both extremely capable of scoring 100+, but I think the safer play is Dawson, who can rack up points in a hurry with takedowns and his submission game is nice as well. In two trips inside the octagon he’s averaged 107 fpts and I could see him scoring well above that here. I like him the most out of all fighters above 9k.
Gabriel Silva $8400 – I really don’t know what his ownership will be, but I like Silva a lot here. Silva was thrown in the fire in his UFC debut and for the first half ofg his bout against Ray Borg he was pretty effective. Silva’s striking and ground game are at a different level than Kyler Phillips, and I expect a solid performance from the young Brazilian.
Davidson Figueirdo $7400 – Many look at this fight like this:
- Figueirdo was beaten by Jussier Formiga
- Benavidez knocked out Formiga
- Benavidez should dominate Figueirdo, right?
Wrong…MMA math would tell you that Joseph Benavidez should be a -250 favorite on Saturday, but the odds are quite a bit closer than that. I think Figueirdo’s striking and quickness are going to be too much for Benavidez. Yes, Benavidez is a great wrestler, but I am not convinced he can get the fight to the ground. You also must consider of all of the pressure on Benavidez, this might be his last shot at gold. Figueirdo is a guy that has improved so much over the past 3 years, and with as much Benavidez gets hit, I don’t see this lasting long. I think Figueirdo wins via TKO in round 2.
Those are the 3 fighters I am building around on Saturday…I might go 50/50 with Ankalaev and Cutelaba, and will more then likely try to find a way to get Spencer or Anderson in a lineup. I might also add Spike Carlyle, he might be a sneaky nice underdog to target.
Enjoy the fights and best of luck with your lineups!
