The UFC heads to Greenville South Carolina for UFC on ESPN+ 12, Moicano vs. The Korean Zombie. At first glance this card didn’t blow me away, but as I dug deeper I see a lot of really interesting matchups and we should see quite a number of finishes as well. Unfortunately one dog that I really liked is no longer fighting with John Lineker pulling out. There are some other opportunities though. Let’s take a look at the salaries.
Luis Pena $9500 – Pena should get it done here, but my only concern is the the fact he’s fighting back up at lightweight so the weight cut does concern me. His opponent is outmatched here and Pena should finish him, I’ll have him in a few lineups but I’m not 100% sure if he can score 100.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik $9000 – Rozenstruik had a bit of a rough start in his UFC debut against Junior Albini, but once he let his hands go it was a wrap. Rozenstruik should finish Crowder in the 1st, he’ll be highly owned and for good reason.
Renato Moicano $8600 – With all due respect to Chan SungJung, I think Moicano is one of the top featherweights in the division and has the talent to win a belt someday. Many forget that this guy was piecing up Brian Ortega before making a costly mistake and being submitted. if Moicano manages distance and fights a smart fight, I think he’ll win going away. My thinking is a 4th round stoppage, but he just has a smart fight. He’ll be in quite a few lineups.
Brown/Barbarena – I think both fighters have legit paths to victory, and I think it will be one of the more entertaining fights of the night. I think I’ll have more Barbarena, but I’ll have some of Brown as well.
Montana De La Rosa $7500 – Andrea Lee is a talented striker, but if this hits the mat things could get real interesting. De La Rosa has the tools to pull off a sub here. I’ll have a little bit of Montana in some lineups.
Alessio Di Chirico $7400 – While Kevin Holland might be entertaining on the mic, he hasn’t really impressed me a whole lot in the octagon. He’s fun to watch at times but in his last fight he made some really poor decisions and gassed hard. You could make a case that he should have lost too. If this goes the distance I can see Di Chirico grinding out a win here. Holland is athletic but needs to learn how to use his length on a consistent basis.
Eric Spicely $6900 – I have to take a shot at Spicely here. Here is a veteran that is making his return to the UFC on short notice against a guy making his UFC debut. Deron Winn is a wrestler, and I don’t know if he really wants this fight going to the mat against a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. Octagon jitters are a real thing, and I think Spicely is a very live dog. Stranger things have happened, just ask Thiago Santos.
