The UFC’s third event in a week takes place in Jacksonville, florida once again for UFC on ESPN 8. They main event will feature Walt Harris taking on Alistair Overeem in a heavyweight matchup. There are a lot of interesting fights on this card, so let’s take a look at some salaries.

There are not a lot of options above 9k that I really like. Claudia Gadelha at $9200 is a tad high for my liking, given her recent form. Honestly, I really like the mindset of Angela Hill, who is in really sharp form and has one 4 out of 5, with the only loss being to current champion Xiaonan Yan. Miguel Baeza might be worth a stab in a lineup or two, but the lack of experience concerns me.

Walt Harris $8700 – Walt Harris will be making his return to the Octagon and we’ll have a lot of emotion heading into the contest against Alistair Overeem. It will be his first fight since the death of his stepdaughter Aniah Blanchard. Harris’s speed and power will be too much to handle for the veteran Overeem, and I do think this will end in the 1st round. It doesn’t take much to put the Ductch veteran out as his chin is suspect and that’s being kind. Overeem may look to take this to the mat like he did against Rozenstruik, but I think Harris’ takedown defense is good enough.

Dan Ige $7700 – Ige has quickly become one of my favorite fighters to watch. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you always want to back a guy that will fight for your money. Ige is that guy. He’s a dog, and he is a good well-rounded guy with a solid fight IQ. Trust me, I’ve always been a fan of Barbosa, but I don’t know how this drop down to featherweight will affect him, but I don’t think it’s a good move. Ige is the better grappler and his relentless pressure will be too much for the Brazilian in my opinion.

Others to consider

Rodrigo Nascimento Ferreira is a guy I am probably going to mix and match into a few lineups, $7800 is not a bad price. Kevin Holland has a lot of talent but man…his fight IQ makes the $8200 a risk. He’s a solid fighter that makes some decisions that don’t make a lot of sense. Maria Romero Borella shouldn’t that big of a dog to Cortney Casey, and is capable of pulling off a sub finish, worth a stab there. If Song Yadong fights (having visa issues currently), I’ll put him in a lineup or two, I think he could really maul Chito Vera and I don’t think the ownership will be high due to his last performance. Song Yadong has a lot of potential.

That’s it for this event, it’ll be interesting to see who will be on the optimal lineup. Enjoy the fights and stay safe!
