Last Saturday was a pretty nice outcome as a lot of dogs were barking and what a performance by Joaquin Buckley. It was also nice to see Edson Barboza get back in the win column. So we are one week away from UFC 254, but this weekend we have a key featherweight bout headlining UFC Fight Island 6 as Brian Ortega takes on the Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung. This fight should be absolute fire!! The card itself is pretty chalk heavy, so let’s take a look at some fighters to target.

Chalk

The only guy I like above 9k is Jimmy Crute at $9000. Crute is 3-1 in the UFC, and all of his wins have been finishes. Crute is a finisher and I can see him doing the same here. Bukauskas has one UFC win under his belt and he’s a decent striker but his opponents are nothing to really write home about. Crute is pretty well-rounded, he’s a solid striker and a very underrated submission game. Every time I see Crute in the octagon I see a better version. Crute is really the only guy I like above 9k, I don’t trust Said Nurmagomedov and I may have some of Maxim Grishin, but I’ll have a lot of Jimmy Crute in my lineups.

Mid-Tier

I’ll be targeting 2 fighters that are in the 8k range. Jessica Andrade is $8400 and I really think she can have her way against Kaitlyn Chookagian and she could get this to the mat or get a possible TKO. I just can’t see how Chookagian can maintain distance for a full 15 minutes, eventually Andrade will get inside and impose her will. Kaitlyn does have an underrated ground game but I think Andrade is better their as well and is definitely the stronger fighter.

Another guy I’ll target is Thomas Almeida. Almeida lost 3 out of 4 before taking a 3-year hiatus from the UFC. He makes his return and I think getting him at this price is a real bargain. Yes,he lost 3 out of 4, but those losses were against top 15 guys. Jonathan Martinez is a significant step down here and I know the 3-year layoff may scare some but Almeida is a seriously talented fighter and can get a first round finish. $8200 is a niceprice for a fighter that many may fade.

Do not sleep on Junyong Park at $8800…the price is a bit high for him but he could score well against John Phillips.

Split ownership

Big shocker but I’ll be split on the main event. Split down the middle. The winner will get a finish, and it’s either Zombie by TKO or Ortega by submission. If it does go the distance Zombie will win and will score well on volume. Great fight, can’t wait for it.

Dog

I don’t see a lot of live dogs like last weekend. Claudio Silva at $7700 is a decent play. Silva has a vicious submission game and don’t forget that he has a win over Leon Edwards (some people don’t remember). Yes it was 2014 but still impressive. James Krause has a solid jiu-jitsu game as well but there are levels. I think Silva can eventually get this to the ground, wear down Krause and pick up a submission. Silva’s cardio is a concern, but it’s worth a shot.

That’s all for this weekend, best of luck and enjoy the fights!
