After a 3 week hiatus, the UFC is back this weekend in Washington D.C. as veteran Alistair Overeem takes on rising challenger Jairzinho Rozenstruik. While we are happy to see the UFC back, we are also saddened by the loss of Will Harris’ daughter Aniah Blanchard. Harris was supposed to be in this main event but due to the unfortunate turn of events he was replaced. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Will Harris and his family.
Here are some of the fighters I am targeting.
Virna Jandiroba $9100 – Jandiroba is the former Invicta champion, and I’m hoping she is a tad overlooked here. Jandiroba is better everywhere here, and if this goes to the mat (which I think it will) it’ll be a wrap. Mallory Martin just isn’t ready for this level of competition, Jandiroba via 1st round submission.
Song Yadong $8900 – I really like the price on Song Yadong. I was a big fan of Cody Stamann when he entered the UFC, but I don’t think he’s improved the way I had imagined. Stamman is the better wrestler but I don’t think the gap is as wide as some may think. Yadong is extremely athletic and has some serious power. I just think Stamann gets caught here, I like Yadong via 2nd round TKO.
Bryce Mitchell $8000 – Mitchell opened the favorite and is now a slight underdog, he’s still at 8k so I’ll put him in the mid-tier hahaha. I like the tenaciousness and heart of Mitchell, and his scrambling ability is insane. Mitchell should score well with reversals, sweeps, and significant strikes. This will be a really fun fight to watch and I think Mitchell wins this via decision but wouldn’t be surprised is he gets a submission.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik $7900 – Did I not say on the UFC 244 DFS analysis that Rozenstruik is the real deal and will fight Ngannou soon? well fast forward about a month and if he wins this fight we most likely see that fight, and sooner than I thought. Rozenstruik is really adding a lot of interest to the heavyweight division, and I many don’t realize he was 76-8 as a kickboxer with 64 wins via KO. His striking is solid and his accuracy is impressive. Many feel that Overeem will get this to the ground and will have success via ground and pound. Well it’s not like Alistair is some kind of elite wrestler, with 28% takedown accuracy. while Overeem is solid in the clinch, I don’t think he wants to be in the clinch with Rozenstruik. These are heavyweights, so anything can happen, but I think Rozenstruik get it done early via 1st round KO.
