Well the UFC will be the only major sport in action this weekend as the event will take place from the empty GinasioNilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil.Lightweightcontenders Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira will headline the card, and the co-main event will be a matchup of two outstanding Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners as Demian Maia takes on Gilbert Burns. It’s gonna be an odd event with no spectators, but let’s be thankful that we have the UFC this weekend! Do keep in mind that this is Brazil and some shady shit can happen, but we don’t have the crowd affecting the judges either…it’s a tricky situation for sure. Let’s take a look at the salaries…
Renato Moicano $9400 – Yes, the price might be a tad high for a guy moving up to 155 but I feel like this is a good fight for him to get back on track. Renato is by far the better striker than Hadzovic, and on the ground it’s a total mismatch. Not only is it a mismatch, Hadzovic’s take down defense is not good at all. Moicano’s last two performances may have been due to the fact that he was cutting too much weight and I think he’ll be great at 155. Let’s not forget the dominant performances he’s had in the past. I think Moicano comes out on Saturday with a dominant performance.
Mayra Bueno Silva $8500 – I think Silva is going to be overlooked here, and that’s why I’m going to target her. Maryna Moroz will be some tough competition but I think Silva can get this to the mat and get the sub. Moroz has some power too, and I just think her overall game is better. Many may say that her win against Gillian Robertson was a fluke, but the fact that she hurt her knee early in the first round and still found a way to get the submission win was impressive. I don’t think she’ll be highly owned and at this price I’ll take my chances.
Brandon Moreno $7400 – Moreno is coming off an impressive win over Kai Kara-France, and now he’ll have his hands full with Jussier Formiga. Formiga’s ground game is impressive, but I really like what I’ve seen from Moreno, and I think his striking along with his cardio can be the difference here. Moreno is a guy that will fight for your money, and I’m a fan of Jussier but in this spot I’m going with Moreno.
As far as other fighters I’ll be mixing and matching, I do like “Do Bronx” Oliveira in the main event but with Kevin Lee missing weight I’m a bit hesitant. I’ll have Oliveira in a lineup or two. I’ll also be invested in Johnny Walker, who will be looking to get back on track against Nikita Krylov. I’ll also be looking at Enrique Barzola, it’s a dangerous fight for him but he should score well against Yahya. One more guy I’ll be targeting is David Dvořák who will be making his UFC debut but is a proven finisher with 6 straight finishes on the European scene.
That’s it for me folks. Wash your hands, don’t touch your face and enjoy the fights!
