Not much else to say about last week really. The judging was absolutely atrocious (tell me how Espino lost the 1st round) and the whole Stephens/Klose debacle ruined the slate for many. This is the thing that irks me, these organizations want to be in bed with Draft Kings but can’t releasethe news that the fight was cancelled until after lock? And if that happens, maybe Draft Kings could move the lock time? Just piss poor management on both ends. Anyways…. fans are in the house this weekend for UFC 261, 3 title fights, let’s look at some fighters to target.

Chalk

I think both Valentina Shevchenko and Kamaru Usman are in play, but I do think Shevchenko will score on volume alone, and I see her winning decision. Usman on the other hand I will have in some lineups, but I will have Masvidal in some as well. I think a more prepared Masvidal will give Usman some fits, and Usman can be hit, we’ve all seen it recently. I do think Masvidal and Usman will both be highly owned, so if you want to fade the fight all together that also wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

Zhang Weili is not a bad play either if you think she can get the best of Rose. I’ll personally have more of Rose Namajunas, but will have Weili in a few lineups.

Mid-Tier

Brandon Allen $8400 – I’m expecting a big bounce back performance from Allen. I think Allen was in over his head against Sean Strickland who was way more experienced and Allen simply wasn’t ready. Karl Roberson is a pretty solid athlete but I think Allen can definitely get this to the ground where he is leaps and bounds better. I’ll take Allen at this price to get the job done inside the distance.

Dogs

Anthony Smith $7300 – The fact that Anthony Smith is an underdog to a guy like Jimmy Cruteis a tad ridiculous. Smith is 2-3 in his last 5. The 3 losses are against Alexander Rakic, Glover Teixera and Jon Jones. So Jimmy Crute should be favored? Smith is way more experienced and I think he has multiple paths to victory here. Crute is solid but this is a big step up in competition. I’ll take Smith here.

Rose Namajunas $7200 – See above in the Chalk section, but I think Rose is being really disrespected here. Rose will need to keep this fight on the outside and use her jab and cut angles like she did against Joanna. Weili will need to get inside to do most of her damage but I don’t know if she’ll be able to do that enough with the way Rose moves laterally. I also think Rose has the advantage on the mat with her grappling skills and size advantage. I have to take Rose here, but will have 1 or 2 lineups with Weili.

Chris Weidman $7900 – I’ll just say this, this is extremely risky but I think Uriah Hall will be very popular. I’ll have Weidman in a few lineups because the word out of Longo-Serra is that this is the healthiest Chris Weidman has been in years. They might just be saying that but the truth is that Chris has been dealing with multiple nagging injuries for quite some time. A healthy Weidman can give Uriah Hall fits with takedowns and controlling the fight on the mat. Weidman is a great wrestler, we all know that. If he’s healthy it could be a long night for Hall, who we know is not the most mentally strong fighter. The chin is a concern, but I’ll take a shot with all-American.
