Different week as we look for point-getters in a no-cut event. So I will change my strategy a little bit this week. This will be short and to the point.
Ruby #1 Gary Woodland ($6800)– It seems like Gary’s fall has been widely publicized after his US Open win. He has had positive splits on approach last two tourneys while missing both cuts. He lost almost eight strokes putting at the Genesis. POA is his worst surface for putting, but Bermuda isn’t much better. In my model, if I limit it to Nicklaus courses, Gary ranks 6th last 24 rounds on Nicklaus courses. He ranks #1 in Birdies on Nicklaus courses as well.
Ruby #2: Lee Westwood ($6900)– I’m not sure what lead me to this outside of the Nicklaus model that has Westwood ranks 9th in the field in my overall model. Where has he excelled at Nicklaus courses? Last 24 rounds on Nicklaus courses in my model, he ranks 1st in par four scoring. He’s not great with his wedges, but if he gets a hot putter, it can make up for it. He’s 13th in the field in birdies, so I like that for his value.
Ruby #3 Andy Sullivan ($6500)– This is a shot in the dark; for old times sake, it feels like. Overall, Sullivan ranks 15th in my model, and his best stat is the birdies on Nicklaus courses. He has made the last three cuts in Europe. He has been playing solid golf and can get birdies in bunches. I like him this week in a no-cut event to get you points that make him more valuable than his price.
Good Luck this week
