Well, I would say these rubies really paid off last week. Kevin Na and Dahmen were both in my $200 SE team, and I placed 6th cashing for $5,000. Had I switched from Xander to Rahm like I always do, I would have won. Oh well, still a good week, and I’m looking forward to this week.
Ruby #1: Camillo Villegas ($6400)– This might seem like an odd one considering where his numbers have been on the KFT. HE placed 23rd recently at the Sanderson Farms while gaining 7.3 strokes on approach and 11.6 T2G. Those are massive numbers. He lost 6 strokes putting. Maybe on the slow greens, he can find something this week, and hopefully, he still has the iron game form. Even while missing the cut at the Shriners, he gained 3 strokes on approach. An average putting week on his best surface, and he can click for good!
Ruby #2: D.J. Trahan ($6500)– Trahan won’t garner much attention ever. Rightfully so, he has made 3 consecutive cuts on the PGA tour and has a top 15 finish at the Safeway. He was 24th here last year as well. Trahan gained almost 5.5 strokes on approach at the Sanderson Farms while losing an astounding 6.5 putting. Historically his worst putting surface is Bermuda, which is worrisome, but can it get much worse than the Sanderson putting performance? His price allows you to be more flexible at the top.
Ruby #3: Branden Grace ($6900)– Grace was in 2nd at the alternate field event when he recently had to WD with covid. Those are not in his stats, remember. His long term stats in my model really look good. Can he get it back this week? He did miss the cut in the last 3 PGA tour starts, but he gained an approach in his last start and lost 5.4 strokes putting. Grace can handle if the wind picks up, as he has shown that in the past. His best putting surface is Bermuda, so maybe he can have an average putting performance this week.
Good Luck this week
