Out with the old, In with the new! The Daily Write Up is no more, I sat back yesterday and realized this article’s name needed to mean something. In the beginning before I started writing for Fantasy Sports Degens, I was (and still am) writing these articles for a wonderful facebook group named DFS Wolfpack and my only reason for doing so was to give the regular joe and jane a fighting chance against the pros. I wanted to help people that needed help and that were interested in playing DFS and to help them get a return on their nightly investment. At the end of the day, This needs to be fun. DFS was meant to be a competitive game that anyone can play. There are no experts here. It all comes down to lady luck. However, if you know a lot about the game of basketball or any other sport for that matter then you will have a slight edge as opposed to a more relaxed player. I’ve been a DFS player for well over 7 years. I’ve never won six figures, I’ve never won five figures, but that’s because I don’t play large buy-ins. I am however someone who trusts their gut and does consistently well in NBA DFS. My goal is so you can be consistent too. So, I put out a contest on Facebook for someone to come up with a new fresh idea for this article and the winner is Dan Wehr as he came up with “Slate Breaker”, I changed it up and made it into “Breakin Slates with Brian Lemay Jr”. Dan, Thank you again and I hope I can repay you by helping you put together a winning lineup tonight on DraftKings. So without further ado, Let’s try and dissect this enormous 14 Game NBA Main Slate. Let’s start Breakin Slates together TONIGHT!

Also, for news, injury updates, and my personal gut feelings on who to play after this article is posted, Be sure to check me out on my new Twitter handle.

Disclaimer: Remember people, I am not a professional, just an avid NBA fan who loves the sport and loves DFS. We are betting on human beings here which is probably the hardest thing to bet on. Some days we will win. Some days we will lose.  I will never argue with any member of any community about who they want to play on any given night. However, if you would like my opinion on a particular player I will gladly help you any way that I can if you ask me. My slogan is “If you like him, play him”. It’s your money and I can’t spend it for you. If I don’t get back to you right away, it’s because I am just like you and work a full time job and I do this in my down time here. I promise to get back to you.  Some players who are studs I may not mention in detail here in this article but will be displayed in the “Players I like but did not mention here” portion of the write up towards the end. All stats mentioned are accurate as of today and screenshots can be provided upon request. Credit: Fantasy Sports Degens, RotoGrinders, RotoWire, Fantasy Alarm, and DFS Wolfpack

Favorite Plays on the Slate:  (In no particular order) ( PG-C positions)

Patrick Beverley (LAC) @ MEM ($5,000) PG/SG

Not many players, nevermind point guards play the type of defense that Pat Beverley does. Beverley isn’t a great scorer but he puts up  stats in the other categories just fine. Beverley assisted the Clippers last night in bringing Luka Doncic back to Earth after his meteoric rise this year, The same will be the case tonight in Memphis. The Grizzlies in their past 5 games have given up on average 46.2 FPTs per game, good for fifth worst in the league. Ja Morant is banged up and even if he was healthy, I doubt he would have a great night up against Beverley. Beverley has potential to put up a big fantasy point night at this price. He should give you five to six times value on your investment. He just needs to make sure he keeps his fouls at a minimum.

Chris Paul (OKC) @ POR ($7,200) PG

Did Chris Paul visit the fountain of youth lately? Did he forget to pick up Mike Conley? Anyways, have you seen what this man has done lately? In Paul’s past 5 games he has put an amazing 38.8 FPTs per game! Father Time is being pushed back once again folks. Tonight, the Thunder travel to Portland for a matchup against the Blazers who struggle mightily against opposing point guards. The Blazers have given up the 4th most FPTs to opposing point guards in their past 5 games. Damian Lillard couldn’t stop children from crossing the street. Chris Paul is a great selection to have in your lineups tonight, Yes his price is higher, but I see another nice performance tonight in Portland for Paul. Start him with confidence.

Lonzo Ball (NO) vs. LAL ($4,900) PG

There’s nothing like a little revenge scenario before Turkey Day. Lonzo Ball was part of the mega trade that sent Anthony Davis to LA and Ball, Ingram, and Hart to The Big Easy. Lonzo Ball has been banged up the past couple weeks, but don’t think for a second he doesn’t have this game marked on his calendar. He was not listed on the Pelicans injury report this morning, So to me, that means he is ready to go. The Lakers are a great defensive team as well all know but they can be exposed at the point guard position. Rondo is like a subway turnstile, All ya gotta do is play through him! We’ve been waiting a while for Ball to give us a big night and as long as no other injury news pops up, at this price he’s a fine low risk/high reward addition to your team tonight.

Trae Young (ATL) @ MIL ($9,900) PG

Whether it’s a step back three,or droppin a dime behind his back to Jabari Parker for the jam. Trae Young is just outstanding to watch. The Hawks come into Milwaukee tonight for what should be a very high scoring game. Trae Young will be matched up with Eric Bledsoe who is a great defender, but I still feel confident in Trae Young producing well into the 40 FPT + range here tonight. The last time Young matched up with Bledsoe, he put up 25 points, 8 assists, and a 45 FPT night while on the floor 33 minutes. Trae Young has his sample size of Bledsoe, now it’s time for him to shine even more. A great centerpiece player to have in your roster tonight on DraftKings who still is slightly under 10k.

Evan Fournier (ORL) @ CLE ($6,400) SG/SF

Whatever you do, Do not Google “Fournier” ! Awww man!, you just did didn’t you?? Geez guys ever hear of don’t push the red button? Anyways, as sick as you feel right now for doing so, One of the sickest plays I see at shooting guard is Evan Fournier against Cleveland tonight. In the past 5 games, the Cavs have given up the most FPTs to opposing shooting guards and in Fournier’s past 5 games he’s averaging 35.7 FPTs per game.  He’s priced well and at his price, I could see potential for up to 6 times value here on your investment. I sound like a stock broker, cool!

Luke Kennard (DET) @ CHA ($5,800) SG

We are seeing some great values so far with guards on this humongous 14 game slate. Another value play I cannot look past is Luke Kennard. Kennard is coming off a 40 FPT performance against the Magic and his price only rose $200 on DK. That’s good news for you and good news for me. Over the past 5 games, The Hornets have given up on average 59.2 FPTs to opposing shooting guards. That’s the second worst in the league! Take advantage of this matchup with White Lightning!! (ok, I made it up but it sounds cool.)

Zach Lavine (CHI) @ GS ($7,100) PG/SG

The Warriors are banged up in a bad way. This is a perfect way for you to exploit them. Insert Zach Lavine who in his past two games has been very impressive. He dumped 60.5 FPTs on the Hornets in Charlotte in that amazing game that the Bulls won last minute, and against POR at home he managed to put up 30.25 FPTs. Tonight is the night babyyyy!!! Lavine’s price has dropped $400 and he has an even juicier matchup in Golden State. This is a must play for me. It should be for you too.

Devin Booker (PHX) vs. WAS ($8,500) PG/SG

Some people may have their reservations about playing Booker tonight because they see his last game against Denver where he put up his worst point total of the season. Not this guy right here, He played a tough defensive team. Tonight he’s playing a Wizards team with absolutely no identity at all and whom are still licking their wounds after a shellacking from WHO? Yup Denver, you guessed it. Devin Booker is going to shake that past performance off and absolutely dominate the Wizards tonight in Phoenix. He is one of my favorites if not my favorite players on this whole slate tonight.

Danny Green (LAL) @ NO ($4,600) SG/SF

Looking for a punt with a great matchup tonight. Danny Green is playing the Pelicans who have the 5th worst defense against opposing shooting guards in their past 5 games, and the worst defense against the same position for the season. If Danny Green’s shot falls tonight, He would be an excellent sleeper pick to have in your lineups. Remember GPP players, we have to take chances to break the slate. (Pun intended lol.)

Josh Richardson (PHI) vs. SAC ($6,400) SG/SF

Richardson is another good play here vs Sacramento at home tonight. In the past ten days, Richardson has been averaging over 32 FPTs per game and tonight he faces a Kings team that has given up the 9th most FPTs to opposing shooting guards over the past 5 games. Richardson should exploit this matchup and could be low owned tonight. If his performance is anything like his past two games, he could be a great addition tonight.

Lebron James (LAL) @ NO ($11,500) PG/SF

This is a no brainer. Great matchup against New Orleans. He’s averaging 58.65 FPTs per game over his past five games. He’s a sure thing like the sun setting today. Plenty of value on today’s slate where his price shouldn’t impede you to have other value plays alongside him tonight. 50-80 FPT + potential here for the King!

Marcus Morris (NYK) @ TOR ($6,600) SF/PF

Need a good mid tier small forward for tonight’s slate if you don’t want to pay up to get Lebron or perhaps you wanna add with him Lebron in your utility spot. Marcus Morris is your man! Morris has been on fire his past four games averaging a robust 39.63 FPTs per game in that period AND he dropped 53.75 FPTs on the Sixers during that period. Tonight, he travels to Canada to face the Raptors who in the past 5 games have given up the 5th most FPTS to opposing small forwards. Great play here. 30-40 FPT + potential here in a great matchup. I like Morris quite a bit.

Jimmy Butler (MIA) @ HOU ($8,000) SG/SF

It looks as if Butler made the road trip, and he’s not listed on the official Miami Heat injury report. This is great news and as long as that news doesn’t change today, Jimmy Butler is definitely in play for me. The Rockets as we all know are a below average defensive team and I could see this game being high scoring. Jimmy Butler is the heart of this franchise alongside Adebayo and if he’s taken some Robitussin and beat this illness he’s going to produce against the Rockets. In Butler’s past 5 games he’s averaging 42.1 FPTs per game and I can’t see him slowing down in Houston tonight IF he’s healthy and has no minutes restriction. The plague has been cast all over the NBA lately, let’s hope Butler has kicked it.

Jayson Tatum (BOS) vs. BKN ($7,300) SF/PF

Tatum is dirt cheap in a great matchup vs. the Nets tonight.  Solid mid tier guy that can put elite points on any given night. In the past 5 games, the Nets have given up the second most FPTs to opposing power forwards and you guys know I like to ride the hot hand and Tatum for this price is one of my favorite power forward plays. Realistically at this price, you could see 5 to 5 ½ times value tonight from Tatum. Use him as a core player against BKN.

Anthony Davis (LAL) @ NO ($10,000) PF/C

Don’t overthink this one. Davis will not be stopped by anyone in the Pelicans front court. If you’re looking for a heroic tale of epic proportions, This isn’t it. Davis is going to be the main angry bird in this game alongside King James. At $10,000 this price is much less than I thought Davis would be. He’s a must start that will produce. The only thing stopping Anthony Davis tonight is himself if he re-injured his shoulder. That’s it!

Taurean Prince (BKN) @ BOS ($5,800) SF/PF

Nice value here with Prince vs the Celtics. He’s scored 30 FPTs or more in his past 3 out of 4 games played and seems to flourish with Kyrie out of the lineup as well. The Celtics are no slouch on defense but in the past 5 games have given up the 5th most FPTs to opposing power forwards and the 9th most fantasy points to opposing small forwards. For $5,800 I’m willing to add him into a few of my lineups tonight to see how he will perform. With confidence, I could see him get up to 6 times value tonight.

Hassan Whiteside (POR) vs. OKC ($6,600) Center

Nice mid-tier option here for a center in Whiteside. I’m hoping his hip issue is behind him. He performed great on Monday in Chicago, he had a double-double and looked like the hip didn’t bother him much at all. What is even better is tonight he’s home against the Thunder in a great matchup. The Thunder are the worst at defending opposing centers the past 5 games and Whiteside is long and strong and should battle Adams pretty well tonight. I am high on Whiteside here, especially under 7k on DraftKings.

Montrezl Harrell (LAC) @ MEM ($7,000) PF/C

Another great matchup here is Harrell against the Grizzlies tonight. Harrell is an athletic PF/Center combo that can attack the basket. If Leonard or George sit tonight then Harrell would see even more time on the floor tonight. Last night against DAL he only saw 28 minutes of action so they could’ve been saving him for the second leg of this back to back and it’s a better matchup. DraftKings was clever raising his price $300 after a mediocre performance last night because they knew the potential of this matchup Harrell has tonight. Now you do too. Solid option at Center tonight.

Andre Drummond (DET) @ CHA ($9,400) Center

Sheesh! Talk about a price jump here. I can’t disagree with DraftKings here either. The Hornets are one of the worst front court defensive teams in basketball. They have given up the 3rd most FPTs to opposing centers the past five days and they have no real center to guard Drummond tonight. Drummond’s ceiling tonight is 60 FPTS and I think his floor is 40 FPTs. I’ll take the ceiling especially against the Hornets. They stink like old underwear.

Willy Cauley-Stein (GS) vs. CHI ($4,700) Center

A good punt play, BOOM or BUST candidate for your lineups tonight is Cauley-Stein. If Brook Lopez can hang 50 FPTs on Chicago last week, why not Cauley-Stein tonight? Ok, so that might not happen but he’s not a bad option tonight to land you 30 FPT + potential or six times value on your investment. Most people will be sleeping on old Willy, Not this guy, If he drops 30 FPTs tonight and my mid tier guys and studs come through, We’re on our way to Mount Cashonia baby!!!!

Bam Adebayo (MIA) @ HOU ($7,500) Center

He could be my favorite center of tonight’s slate if Capela is out. The price is right for the production. I still like him if Capela’s in as well but with Capela out it would only make this matchup that much sweeter!!!

In the past 5 days, The Rockets have given up the 8th most FPTs to opposing centers and Adebayo is also coming off a really solid game. I’m looking for him to continue that momentum like me forcing that last piece of turkey down my throat tomorrow. BAM! Play Him!

The Core 5:   (These are my favorite players at every position tonight. These are not locks as I don’t believe in ever calling a player a lock. These are my favorite plays at every position and are not meant to be a method of an example lineup. The Core 5 has been a section I’ve received requests to do by our followers of the website and in the fb group I do the article for as well. Without further ado, here are my Core 5.

PG: Trae Young (ATL) @ MIL ($9,900) PG

SG: Devin Booker (PHX) vs. WAS ($8,500) PG/SG

SF: Lebron James (LAL) @ NO ($11,500) PG/SF

PF: Anthony Davis (LAL) @ NO ($10,000) PF/C

C: Andre Drummond (DET) @ CHA ($9,400) Center

Another change I’m making to the article is due to time constraints, I won’t be including a players I like but not mentioned here section any longer. I am available to answer any of your lineup questions anytime concerning other plays I did not mention here. I’ve also received a lot of feedback that members don’t exactly enjoy seeing a pool of players listed below. I’ll keep it short and sweet then. I hope you all have a wonderful turkey day with your family  and hope you all hit the big money tonight. Breakin’ Slates will be back this Monday December 2nd. I am spending the next four days with family and enjoying this holiday weekend. Thanks again for all the support you guys have showed me. It truly is a pleasure and a privilege to help you anyway that I can.

P.S: Yes I like Brandon Ingram tonight. And Yes I also think Embiid is going to go off as well.
