Happy New Years Degens and Wolfpack!!!! I hope everyone had a nice night and wasn’t too hungover yesterday! I want to take a quick second and remember legendary NBA Commissioner David Stern who passed away recently. Stern was a creative mind who helped the NBA go global and was involved in bringing us the Dream Team which was one of the most exciting teams of all stars to watch represent the United States of America in the Olympics. This article is dedicated to you Mr. Stern. Without further ado, let’s break down this huge 9 game slate and let’s get some money babyy!!!!

Also, for news, injury updates, and my personal gut feelings on who to play after this article is posted, Be sure to check me out on my Twitter handle.

Favorite Plays on the Slate:  (In no particular order) ( PG-C position)

Luka Doncic (DAL) vs. BKN ($12,000) PG/SG

Average FPTS last 5 games: 45.8 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PG’s Last 5: 2nd worst (BKN) 100.3 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team: 36.9% (Leads team)

Projected FPTs tonight: 51.2 FPTs

Ceiling: 68.3 FPTs

Luka Doncic is in an absolute smash spot against the Brooklyn Nets tonight. He is worth the spend up on a larger slate tonight. The Nets are second worst defensively in their past 5 games and Luka is coming off a monster 62 FPT outing in Oklahoma City against the Thunder. He is a great premium option at point guard and if Porzingis misses this game, it will be utterly disgusting the usage that Doncic would receive in this game tonight. Don’t overthink this one. Larger slates generally have more value in them so you can spend up on a player like Doncic with confidence tonight.

Lou Williams (LAC) vs. DET ($6,300) PG/SG

Average FPTS last 5 games:  28.5 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PG’s Last 5:  5th worst (DET) 90.4 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  28.0% (3rd on team – normally comes off bench)

Projected FPTs tonight: 30.2 FPTs

Ceiling:  45.9 FPTs

Sweet Lou draws the start at point guard tonight for the Clippers in Patrick Beverley’s absence. I understand that both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard will be playing in this game too but I cannot look past this yummy price for Lou Williams with the ceiling he has for tonight’s game. He’s scored over 30 FPTs in his last 3 of 4 games and he should have the ball in his hands a ton tonight. Nice mid-tier option at point guard.

De’Aaron Fox (SAC) vs. MEM ($7,300) PG

Average FPTS last 5 games: 32.5 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PG’s Last 5:   8th worst (MEM) 87.0 avg per game

Usage percentage on team:   27.9% (Leads team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  43.0 FPTs

Ceiling:   43.1 FPTs

I know a lot of you are probably sour with Fox’s injury concerns as of late, but I still think he’s in a great matchup tonight against the Grizzlies. Bagley is sitting out this game which increases Fox’s usage and he should also have the ball in his hands a ton. For his current price on DraftKings, I see no reason why he couldn’t land us 5-6 times value as long as his back doesn’t act up. This player doesn’t come without risks but neither does DFS on any given night. Solid mid-tier option at point guard.

Devonte’ Graham (CHA) @ CLE ($8,200) PG

Average FPTS last 5 games:  40.2 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PG’s Last 5:  19th worst (CLE) 78.1 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team: 25.7% (2nd on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:   39.7 FPTs

Ceiling:  50.8  FPTs

This is more of a gut instinct here. Cleveland is horrible, and although they may be a tad bit better defensively against opposing point guards than most teams in their past 5 games, I am not overlooking Graham who has high upside and could be overlooked tonight because people fear blowouts. I don’t love his price but I am not going to ignore him. You shouldn’t either especially with the ceiling he brings.

Aaron Holiday (IND) vs. DEN ($5,700) PG/SG

Average FPTS last 5 games:  31.5 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PG’s Last 5:  14th worst (DEN) 81.1 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team: 20.8% (4th on team, 3rd tonight with Brogdon out)

Projected FPTs tonight: 29.0 FPTs

Ceiling:  37.3 FPTs

Denver is a great defensive team but in their past 5 games they’re in the bottom fifteen defensively against opposing point guards. Brogdon is doubtful so next man up is Aaron Holiday! Holiday is averaging 31.5 FPTs over his past 5 games and he’s pretty cheap tonight for someone projected to start. I like Holiday because he has some nice upside in this matchup. I also don’t mind if you take a look at T.J. McConnell for $4,300 but in my opinion, Holiday is the one to own in this matchup. Nice value play on tonight’s slate

Chris Paul (OKC) @ SA ($7,500) PG

Average FPTS last 5 games:  41.8 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PG’s Last 5: 15th worst (SA) 80.8 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  21.9% (4th on team)

Projected FPTs tonight: 44.9 FPTs

Ceiling:  48.2 FPTs

I also like Dennis Schroder in this spot at $6,400, as he leads the team in usage, However, Chris Paul is the one I favor because his upside is there and at this price and against a Spurs team who is average against opposing point guards, he should have no problem balling out. Paul averages almost one FPT away from home and my gut is telling me he and Schroder could have a very productive night.

Jamal Murray (DEN) @ IND ($6,500) PG/SG

Average FPTS last 5 games:  30.1 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PG’s Last 5: 17th worst (IND) 78.4 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  24.9% (2nd on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  31.9 FPTs

Ceiling: 49.9 FPTs

This will be a slow paced game but Murray ranks second behind Nikola Jokic in usage and Brogdon is doubtful to play in this game. This is one of those sneaky plays that could blow up into a great score as his ceiling potential tonight is almost 50 FPTs. Will he hit that number? Probably not, but if he can get us 35-40 FPTs against Aaron Holiday, then I’m all in and I’m guessing he will be overlooked due to the pace of the game. I got my eyes on him though.

Damion Lee (GS) @ MIN ($6,600) SG/SF

Average FPTS last 5 games:  37.8 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing SG’s Last 5: 6th worst (MIN) 100.4 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team: 20.0% (4th on the team with D’Angelo Russell out)

Projected FPTs tonight:  31.2 FPTs

Ceiling:  39.3 FPTs

Damion Lee has been a stud in his past 5 games averaging 37.8 FPTs per game and tonight he faces a Wolves team on the second leg of a back to back and without their star shooting guard Andrew Wiggins. D’Angelo Russell is out, so that gives even more usage to Lee tonight to produce. From the G-League to an absolute G on the court. This is a good mid-tier option in a tantalizing matchup tonight.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC) @ SA ($7,200) PG/SG

Average FPTS last 5 games:  42.0 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing SG’s Last 5:  7th worst (SA) 96.4 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team: 25.1% (2nd on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  35.0 FPTs

Ceiling:  43.1 FPTs

I want to attack the Spurs backcourt for sure tonight. Schroder, Paul, and SGA realistically could all eat tonight. It’s up to you whom you want to spend your salary on. SGA is averaging 42 FPTs per game over his past 5 games and we’re hoping that hot streak continues tonight against a below average Spurs team.

Zach Lavine (CHI) vs. UTA ($7,700) PG/SG

Average FPTS last 5 games:  40.8 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing SG’s Last 5:  11th worst (UTA) 92.4 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  30.7% (2nd on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  38.6 FPTs

Ceiling:  50.4 FPTs

Lavine is in a great matchup tonight against the Jazz. The Jazz like the Spurs are a shell of their former self defensively. Lavine has averaged over 40 FPTs his last five games. He’s a nice mid-tier option at shooting guard tonight. I love me some Lavine under 8k.

Paul George (LAC) vs. DET ($8,800) SF

Average FPTS last 5 games:   36.3 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing SG’s Last 5:  12th worst (DET) 90.9 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team: 30.8% (2nd on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  44.2 FPTs

Ceiling:  54.0 FPTs

I definitely want to attack this game with a point spread of 223.5. There should be plenty of scoring. Now I know on DraftKings they list George as a small forward but he’s starting at the shooting guard position tonight so I’m mentioning him under shooting guards. George has been a little off lately only averaging 36.3 FPTs per game over his last 5 games but tonight he has an excellent matchup against a banged up Pistons team. Bruce Brown is a good defender but I highly doubt he stops George at home in Los Angeles tonight. I think George is a solid spend up option that could go overlooked tonight.

Miles Bridges (CHA) @ CLE ($5,300) SF/PF

Average FPTS last 5 games:  27.2 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing SF’s Last 5:  11th worst (CLE) 93.8 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  18.5% (9th on team)

Projected FPTs tonight: 25.7 FPTs

Ceiling:   35.8 FPTs

Bridges is coming off a great game against the Celtics putting up 37.5 FPTs on New Years Eve. He’s dirt cheap tonight and could be an excellent value play against the Cavs tonight whom are 11th worst against the position in their past 5 games.

Domantas Sabonis (IND) vs. DEN ($8,400) PF/C

Average FPTS last 5 games:   43.2 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PF’s Last 5:  2nd worst (DEN) 94.0 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  23.5% (1st on team with Brogdon out.)

Projected FPTs tonight:  40.2 FPTs

Ceiling:  51.0 FPTs

With Brogdon not playing in this game, Sabonis will have the ball in his hands a lot, Is he expensive? Yes he is and this will be a slow paced game but he has a high ceiling and plenty of upside. Denver is 2nd worst against the position defensively in their past 5 games and frankly, I don’t see Millsap shutting Sabonis down whatsoever. Excellent spend up option at power forward.

Nemanja Bjelica (SAC) vs. MEM ($5,600) PF

Average FPTS last 5 games:  24.7 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PF’s Last 5: 3rd worst (MEM) 92.7 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team: 18.8% (8th on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  30.4 FPTs

Ceiling:  38.5 FPTs

Bjelica has a juicy matchup tonight and he’s only $5,600!! The Grizzlies are giving up the 3rd most FPTs to opposing power forwards in their past 5 games. If Bjelica’s shot falls and he gets some boards and assists you may have yourself a great value play tonight at power forward!

Danilo Gallinari (OKC) @ SA ($6,100) SF/PF

Average FPTS last 5 games:  30.1 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PF’s Last 5: 8th worst (SA) 78.9 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  23.7% (3rd on team)

Projected FPTs tonight: 31.8 FPTs

Ceiling:  37.8 FPTs

Yes I am mentioning another Thunder player, no I’m not advising you stack them all. One thing I do know is Gallinari is cheap at only $6,100 and the last time he played the Spurs he hung 40.8 FPTs on them. I’m not living in the past but Gallinari is only going to get better the more he heals from this injury. I’d rather take advantage of his price now before it goes up. Gallinari has been the talk of many trade rumors and I don’t think it’s outrageous to think he will show out so other suitors can view his buckets! Nice mid-tier option.

Draymond Green (GS) @ MIN ($6,800) PG/SF

Average FPTS last 5 games: 35.8 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing PF’s Last 5: 10th worst (MIN) 76.5 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  17.1% (7th on team with Russell out)

Projected FPTs tonight:  37.0 FPTs

Ceiling:  44.6 FPTs

I’m already hearing a lot of people say they like Covington tonight, but me I’m different, I’m all about some Draymond Green tonight. People seem to forget just how good Green is defensively. Both these teams are bad so I’m assuming this game will be close which also gives an advantage to Green. He’s decently priced and has a high ceiling. Nice mid-tier option at Power Forward even though DraftKings lists him as a PG/SF.

Richaun Holmes (SAC) vs. MEM ($7,100) PF/C

Average FPTS last 5 games:  37.3 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing Centers Last 5:  2nd worst (MEM) 85.6 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  15.9%  (12th on team with Bagley out)

Projected FPTs tonight:  37.2 FPTs

Ceiling:   43.1 FPTs

Now in this case, I could give two turds about usage percentage, my man Holmes always shows out when Bagley is out. Tonight, he gets a Grizzlies team whom is 2nd worst against opposing centers in their past 5 games. Both teams aren’t great defensively and there should be a lot of scoring with a point spread of 224. This is a game you will want to target. Solid Mid-tier center.

Ivica Zubac (LAC) vs. DET ($4.300) Center

Average FPTS last 5 games:  26.0 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing Centers Last 5: 5th worst (DET) 76.4 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  18.2% (7th on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  19.3 FPTs

Ceiling: 30.3 FPTs

Zubac has reached over 20 FPTs in his past 5 games and tonight they’re going to want his size to match up with Andre Drummond. When Zubac is on the floor, he’s a fantasy point per minute machine averaging 1.21 FPTs per minute over his last 5 games. He’s cheap and has a nice ceiling tonight so you can stack other studs in your lineup. Solid value play.

Rudy Gobert (UTA) @ CHI ($8,900) Center

Average FPTS last 5 games:  43.6 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing Centers Last 5:  6th worst (CHI) 74.7 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team: 16.4% (7th on the team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  48.3 FPTs

Ceiling:  53.3 FPTs

Gobert is in an absolute smash spot against Chicago. His price is a little high but it’s the Bulls and we all know how terrible they are against opposing centers. Gobert is a road warrior as he averages 4.2 more FPTs on the road this season as opposed to home. Solid spend up option at center for your lineups tonight.

LaMarcus Aldridge (SA) vs. OKC ($7,600) PF/C

Average FPTS last 5 games: 43.8 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing Centers Last 5:  8th worst (OKC) 73.6 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  23.7% (3rd on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:  34.9 FPTs

Ceiling: 51.8 FPTs

Aldridge has a huge ceiling tonight against Aquaman! Sounds like a movie trailer!! Aldridge vs Aquaman! Ok enough games, Aldridge should show out against Adams tonight as the Thunder are 8th worst in their past 5 games defensively against opposing centers. Not to mention, the last time these teams met, Aldridge put up 57 FPTs on the Thunder. Aldridge has the best matchup of all the Spurs and he’s priced right.

Dwight Powell (DAL) vs. BKN ($5,600) Center

Average FPTS last 5 games:  29.2 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing Centers Last 5:  10th worst (BKN) 71.3 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  11.9% (Last on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:   31.1 FPTs

Ceiling: 31.8 FPTs

Yes, Powell is last on the team in usage stat trolls, but he’s averaging 29.2 FPTs per game over his last 5 games and has scored over 20 in his past 7 games. If Porzingis sits, Powell and Kleiber will be the benefactors. I know Luka will have the ball in his hands a ton but Powell could be a sneaky good play tonight for your lineups. Did ya’ll listen when I said to play Mahimi the other night? Or did ya’ll just laugh at me? Nice value play.

Tristan Thompson (CLE) vs. CHA ($6,900) Center

Average FPTS last 5 games:  29.2 FPTs

Opponent vs opposing Centers Last 5:  14th worst (CHA) 67.4 avg per game.

Usage percentage on team:  18.9% (8th on team)

Projected FPTs tonight:   34.0 FPTs

Ceiling:  41.6 FPTs

I love to target the Charlotte front court any chance I can get. I really like Tristan Thompson tonight because his ceiling is high and he has to break out of his mini slump sometime. I always like to be ahead of the game and I have a good gut feeling mixed with some stats that Thompson puts out a nice game tonight. Solid mid-tier option.

The Core 5:   (These are my favorite players at every position tonight. These are not locks as I don’t believe in ever calling a player a lock. These are my favorite plays at every position and are not meant to be a method of an example lineup. The Core 5 has been a section I’ve received requests to do by our followers of the website and in the fb group I do the article for as well. Without further ado, here are my Core 5.

PG:  Luka Doncic (DAL) vs. BKN ($12,000) PG/SG

SG:   Zach Lavine (CHI) vs. UTA ($7,700) PG/SG

SF:   Paul George (LAC) vs. DET ($8,800) SF

PF:   Domantas Sabonis (IND) vs DEN ($8,400) PF/C

Center: LaMarcus Aldridge (SA) vs. OKC ($7,600) PF/C

Thanks for reading and hope you like the new setup! Have a great day guys!!
