I’m not looking for Jimmy Hoffa! I’m not looking for Elvis! And I doubt either is still alive! I’m looking for Luka Doncic!! Where in the heck were you last night?? I don’t want to hear he was due for a down night! He’s Luka Doncic and in a high pace game against the Wolves!! C’mon now!!! Well I guess he was due but I’m not happy. Well I guess his failure overlaps the fact that Mudiay got nothing for minutes last night and I’m sorry I even mentioned him! Damn you Quin Snyder!!! Anyways, between those two blunders a lot of players did show up and I had a very nice night in DFS. One tip I will tell you is to never saturate your lineups with  sub-minimum value players expecting a homerun because it’s very boom or bust. I understand that sometimes it can almost be a sure thing that they hit value and much more based on things that can occur like injuries or benchings etc. However, you can break your own lineups potential quick by having too much faith in these type of players. WE all do it. I do it. Let’s get better together. There is more luck than strategy to this game and stats are nice but as you saw with Doncic last night, sometimes stats don’t mean a damn thing. With that said, Tonight we have a nice 4 game slate to dive into. Let’s get this money tonight and break some slates baby!!!

Disclaimer: Remember people, I am not a professional, just an avid NBA fan who loves the sport and loves DFS. We are betting on human beings here which is probably the hardest thing to bet on. Some days we will win. Some days we will lose.  I will never argue with any member of any community about who they want to play on any given night. However, if you would like my opinion on a particular player I will gladly help you any way that I can if you ask me. My slogan is “If you like him, play him”. It’s your money and I can’t spend it for you. If I don’t get back to you right away, it’s because I am just like you and work a full time job and I do this in my down time here. I promise to get back to you.  Some players who are studs I may not mention in detail here in this article but will be displayed in the “Players I like but did not mention here” portion of the write up towards the end. Favorite Plays on the Slate:  (In no particular order) ( PG-C positions)

Ben Simmons (PHI) @ WAS ($8,000) PG/SF

This is one of those “It’s too good to be true” players on the slate tonight and yes it’s true and yes it’s good!  I love to expose Isaiah Thomas’ paper mache’ defense. Ben Simmons is priced just right and I believe he could hit 6 times value tonight easy peasy!  Don’t over think this one, I think he will be chalk if people are doing their homework. Wizards are the second worst at defending the point guard position in their last 5 games and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. The only thing more beneficial for Simmons tonight if he was playing the Warriors! Start him up guys and watch the points fall. (Don’t you pull a Doncic on me tonight!!)

Ricky Rubio (PHX) @ NO ($6,200) PG

What Rubio lacks in shooting ability, he makes up for in other categories while on the floor. Lonzo Ball is a pretty good defender but I like Rubio at his price tonight.  He only played 25 minutes in last night’s loss to Orlando so he should be fresh tonight. The injury to his hand is not of concern to me because it’s his non shooting hand. (Hell even if it was his shooting hand it wouldn’t make much of a difference anyway, he’s only shooting 39% all year)  Anyways, if Rubio can drive to the basket and have some shots fall tonight and sprinkle some assists and a steal here and there, I think you have a nice mid-tier point guard play tonight against the Pelicans.

Kyle Lowry (TOR) vs. HOU ($7,000) PG

Even though Lowry had a terrible night shooting vs. Miami the other night, he still filled the stat sheet with 11 assists and 6 rebounds and got to the free throw line plenty. His thumb injury could impede his shooting somewhat even though it’s not on his shooting hand but you can’t deny Lowry’s ability to produce. He’s a fantasy point per minute magician on the floor. This season while on the floor Lowry is averaging 1.14 FPTs per minute. That is impressive. He put up 1 FPT per minute in the game vs Miami (41 FPTs in 41 mins played). Bottom line, he’s a baller! Bottom line Houston sucks at defense! Bottom line, start Lowry while you can at this scrumptious price.

Jamal Murray (DEN) @ NYK ($6,700) PG/SG

The Knicks are generally tough against guards but with Payton and Ntilikina both banged up, I trust Murray to do some damage against a very bad Knicks team tonight. This pick is based on the injuries alone and not stats and I can’t look past Murray’s price and his production over his past 5 games (36.1 FPTs per game in that period).  He can exceed value very easily in this matchup tonight with a bruised and beaten Knicks team that looks like tanking is their best bet.

R.J. Barrett (NYK) vs. DEN ($5,600) PG/SG

Please, please hold your laughter and hear me out. Barrett has not lived up to expectations this year. He’s a rookie so he will be volatile especially on a really bad team. Denver is a very good defensive team and if this game was in Denver, Barrett wouldn’t even be here in the conversation. Hear me out, The Nuggets are 11th worst at defending shooting guards in their past 5 games, but that’s not even the reason why I’m mentioning him!  David Fizdale will give Barrett a ton of minutes no matter what happens tonight and that is the reason why I think Barrett could produce tonight and he’s a low cost option. Even if Denver is blowing the Knicks doors off tonight, Fiz will be stubborn and give his rookie more exposure. Can this pick turn into a disaster? Of course it could! Could this pick be the sneakiest of the night? It also could be too. Remember I always tell you guys to forget the past and play in the moment. Ya’ll were probably laughing at me when I mentioned Aaron Gordon the other night..Who laughed last if you didn’t play him? The people who did! I got slack a few days ago for mentioning Patrick Beverley and he put up a great game too.  I’m not saying everything I mention is gold but don’t laugh when someone you never expected to go off, goes off, because that’s NBA DFS in a nutshell. BOOM or BUST but I like the matchup and I like the usage, we just need the production during that usage to come through. Also, keep note that if Payton or Ntilikina are out, it also boosts Barrett’s value. Just a sneaky from the gut pick.

Fred VanVleet (TOR) vs. HOU ($6,600) PG/SG

VanVleet has played amazing this year. He put the ball in his hands after Lowry was hurt and the Raptors won 7 straight games in that period. Tonight he faces James Harden and the Rockets and I see no trouble for VanVleet to put up a nice game tonight. Lowry being back doesn’t hurt his value one bit as he still saw 43 minutes against the Heat Tuesday night at shooting guard. VanVleet is my favorite mid tier shooting guard option tonight on the slate. You down with FVV? Yeah you know me!

Jrue Holiday (NO) vs. PHO ($7,300) PG/SG

$7,300??!! Wait what?? This is a price dk usually puts out on a star when he’s already been considered out for the game!!! I smell something do you? It smells kinda like….chalk! I’ll be eating that chalk all night and probably in every one of my lineups! Holiday is averaging a robust 1.24 FPTs per minute on the season and tonight he gets Devin Booker who graduated from the Carmelo Anthony school of defense. Holiday is going to ball outta control tonight. I shouldn’t need to convince you any longer.

Will Barton (DEN) @ NYK ($5,900) PG/SF

I love when a great player like Barton has a bad game against the Lakers this year you wanna know why? Because his price falls lower than the temperature outside in New York tonight!  Before Barton met LeBron Tuesday night, he was on an absolute tear averaging 40.66 FPTs in his past 3 games!! I can definitely see Barton getting back on track tonight against the Knicks! 5 times value is what we’re aiming for here but there is potential for more in the slight chance this game is close. Nice safe solid mid-tier play tonight at small forward.

Danuel House (HOU) @ TOR ($4,600) SF/PF

I really think House comes back tonight for Houston but check injury reports before tip off. House has a great matchup against the Raptors who are weak at defending the small forward position. House should have no minute restrictions if healthy and I love his price in this matchup. If he plays, I will add him into a couple of my lineups for sure tonight. You should do the same. If House doesn’t start, McLemore is a definite pivot for me and he’s $100 cheaper!

Tobias Harris (PHI) @ WAS ($6,500) SF/PF

Harris has been on a small tear in his past three games, in that span he’s averaging 35.42 FPTs per game. Washington is awful at defense and I can realistically see Harris reach 5-6 times value tonight. Solid mid-tier option against an awful team.

Al Horford (PHI) @ WAS ($6,400) PF/C

Realistically you probably could start any starting member of the Sixers vs the Wizards tonight. I’m not kidding. Horford has the potential to reach 6 times value tonight as well. The Wizards can’t stop a cold, take your pick! Which Sixer or Sixers you wanna play? I’m good with them all with the exception of maybe Korkmaz.

Paul Millsap (DEN) @ NYK ($4,900) PF/C

Another example of a great price on DraftKings for a player with a great matchup! Millsap should have a nice night tonight in New York as well. If Millsap held his own against the Lakers, I can only imagine what he’s capable of tonight in the Big Apple. Solid value play at power forward.

Julius Randle (NYK) vs. DEN ($6,300) PF/C

I also like Randle on the other side of the court tonight for the Knicks. If Marcus Morris is out, Randle’s minutes will go up as well. Randle is also a very talented player on a really bad team. In the past 5 games, the Nuggets are sixth worst at defending opposing power forwards so this matchup is not impossible. I think Randle has potential for up to 6 times value tonight at his price. I also believe he’ll be low owned so he could be a sneaky solid mid-tier PF to include in your lineups tonight.

Brandon Ingram (NO) vs. PHO ($8,200) SF/PF

How is Ingram so cheap tonight too? Man, there is some damn value on this slate. I imagine he will be chalky because of him killing it in his previous games. I just can’t look past him, He hung 51.0 FPTs on Phoenix back on November 21st. If he can duplicate that production, which I know he can, I’m fine with spending only $8,200 on this stud! Don’t overthink it. Play Ingram!

Derrick Favors (NO) vs. PHO ($5,200) PF/C

Favors should be back in the lineup tonight after missing several games due to the unfortunate death of his mother. Tonight if Favors plays (I believe he’s more probable tonight than questionable) He is going to tear the Suns up. The Suns miss De’Andre Ayton more than you know! In their past 5 games, the Suns are giving up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing Centers and at this price for Favors if he plays, you have to take advantage! Keep an eye out on news leading up to tip off but he could be a great center, power forward, or value utility play to add to your lineups tonight for sure. A Holiday, Ingram, Favors stack could be downright deadly!

Joel Embiid (PHI) @ WAS ($9,700) Center

He’s the best spend up center on this slate. I’m fading Jokic because he can’t seem to get it together and frankly he looks out of shape as opposed to last year. Embiid hasn’t looked his best previously either but he’s facing the Wizards!! It’s a no brainer, If you like to build your lineups tonight around a center that has a 55-60 FPT ceiling in this matchup, then do it! My favorite center tonight next to Favors if he plays. He’s under 10k and the matchup is super juicy!

Final Thoughts:

Bradley Beal is in play for me tonight, I just think there are better options available in better matchups for less money. If you like him, play him.

I am not playing Capela against Gasol, That dude is scary defensively!

BEWARE Devin Booker is very volatile tonight because he will be seeing a ton of Jrue Holiday’s defense tonight.

Kelly Oubre is a nice value at $6,100 tonight for the Suns, J.J Redick is not a good defender at all.

Norman Powell at $5,100 is a tremendous value tonight and he’s been seeing plenty of minutes.

Jordan McRae is a sneaky good play at $4,000 if this game gets out of hand against the Sixers tonight, McRae will see minutes and I feel he’s a better player than Isaiah Thomas all around.

Mikal Bridges from the Suns at $4,000 is also a good value punt for tonight as the past two games he’s seen an uptick in minutes.

The Core 5:   (These are my favorite players at every position tonight. These are not locks as I don’t believe in ever calling a player a lock. These are my favorite plays at every position and are not meant to be a method of an example lineup. The Core 5 has been a section I’ve received requests to do by our followers of the website and in the fb group I do the article for as well. Without further ado, here are my Core 5.
