I did a lot of thinking about last night, and I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t that slow of a night in the NBA on DraftKings. I think the prices are starting to fall to the limits of normalcy as the season progresses. This is a good thing, Who the hell wants 400 plus scores each night? (Well, I do but that’s not the point.) The point is you don’t want to have to put up mid to late 300’s and even 400 plus scores to cash. It’s hard enough trying to predict lineups as it is. My highest score last night was 287.25 and it reminded me of past years on DraftKings. The leading scorer in the tournament I played last night put up a 320. I was perfectly fine with that, because I felt I stood a better chance. I actually would like DraftKings even more if this continues to be the norm. Now, I totally get why the scoring was low as well. A lot of players who we thought would show up, well just didn’t. I still didn’t have a problem with that either because it kinda evened out the chalk a bit. I dunno just my opinion, you may all feel differently. Nonetheless, there is a beautiful 7 game NBA main slate on DraftKings to pick apart. Let’s try again and break some slates babyyy!!!

Favorite Plays on the Slate:  (In no particular order) ( PG-C positions)

Markelle Fultz (ORL) @ WAS ($5,500) PG/SG

Talk about a great value at point guard tonight! Fultz has been improving his game as of late. He took the starting role from D.J. Augustin and has been a consistent 25-30 FPTs producer on an average of almost 30 minutes played per game recently. That is not too shabby. Best of all, Fultz will go one on one with probably the worst defensive point guard in the NBA; Isaiah Thomas. I love the price, I love the matchup, and as long as we don’t have a repeat of last night’s performances for what we thought were sure things, Fultz should produce and produce well vs the Wizards. 5 times value is what I’m targeting here for Fultz. Nice value play to start off the slate.

Luka Doncic (DAL) @ NO ($11,300) PG/SF

This is my spend up of the night. I like Lebron alot, but playing in Denver is never easy. Doncic playing in New Orleans tonight? YES, please! Doncic is the chalk I’m willing to eat until there is none left. He’s averaging 61.85 FPTs over his past 5 games, and with the Pelicans starters almost all returning from injury except for Zion and Favors, this could turn out to be a closer game than you think. Remember, the Mavs lost to the Knicks..TWICE! So as long as this score stays relatively close, Doncic should just keep producing like he works for a fantasy points factory. Don’t fade Luka tonight!

Lonzo Ball (NO) vs. DAL ($5,400) PG

On the other side of the court, I also have Lonzo Ball very much in play for me tonight at his price. Dallas isn’t great against opposing point guards (8th worst defensively in the past 5 games). Lonzo Ball fills the stat sheets and I see double double potential tonight. Ball seemed very healthy his last game, and I think he will play very well tonight. Another solid value play at PG.

Damian Lillard (POR) @ LAC ($8,400) PG

Is this going to be a tough game for Lillard? Sure it is. Patrick Beverley is one of the best defensive point guards in the game. I just cannot overlook how cheap Lillard is tonight. His last time meeting the Clippers he put up 44.5 FPTs. If he can duplicate that performance tonight in LA, I’d be just fine with that at his price tag. I’d rather play a star like Lillard in a highly contested game, rather than what we did last night with Trae Young when he faced the Warriors. Lillard will be low owned tonight I’m assuming. I’m not afraid at all to play him.l. I think Lillard has no problem hitting 5 times value tonight.

Lou Williams (LAC) vs. POR ($6,400) PG/SG

This pick is straight from my gut. I realize Kawhi and PG will be playing tonight unless otherwise stated. I just cannot ignore Lou Williams at this price with a juicy matchup against Portland. He’s not the reigning sixth man of the year for nothing people. When Williams sees the floor, he’s a fantasy point per minute monster. I think tonight’s game will be high scoring so there should be plenty of opportunity here for Sweet Lou to hit at least 5 ½ times value in this game. Nice mid-tier option for a point guard or shooting guard spot in your lineups tonight. Plus Portland also gives up the 4th most fantasy points to opposing shooting guards in their past 5 games.

James Harden (HOU) @ SA ($12,500) PG/SG

I hate his price. I hate his price. I hate his price!!! I still can’t fade him. Harden is having another MVP caliber season for Houston and Westbrook is right. “We have normalized greatness”. Harden is an absolute stud. If you can build value and a couple mid tier guys in your lineups with Harden successfully tonight, he can always help you break a slate. I really can’t predict his ownership tonight, but I’m guessing even at this price, he probably will still be popular. “It’s a yes for me dawg” – Randy Jackson.

Bradley Beal (WAS) vs. ORL ($8,600) SG

This is another gut feeling for me here. Bradley Beal is the superstar of this Wizards offense and his efficiency on most nights dictates whether the Wizards will compete against their opponents or not. He’s only $8,600 tonight and I realize this is a tougher matchup. He only put up 34.0 FPTs up against Orlando their last meeting but in Beal’s past 5 games, he’s averaging 40.85 FPTs per game. I think he has 5 times value potential tonight for sure. Tough matchup here, but sometimes ya just gotta trust your gut! Tonight my gut is telling me Beal could be a sneaky good star in your lineups.

Bruce Brown Jr. (DET) @ CLE ($4,200) SG/SF

Cleveland is the second worst team vs opposing small forwards in the past 5 games. Bruce Brown is dirt cheap tonight and could get you 6 times value at his price! He’s one of my favorite punt plays on the slate tonight. He’s also coming off a decent showing vs.The Spurs where he put up 26.25 FPTs in 27 mins. Damn near a FPT a minute, if he can do a little better than that tonight against a team that is even worse defensively, well he could be a nice value play that will lead us to the promised land babyyy!! BOOM or BUST but in BOOM I trust!!!

Danuel House (HOU) @ SA ($4,600) SF/PF or Ben McLemore (HOU) @ SA ($5,100) SG/SF

This is a great matchup for either player. Both have upside and are priced very well against the Spurs tonight in San Antonio. Pay attention to injury reports tonight, but I think House will play. If he doesn’t then you may want to consider pivoting to McLemore. The Spurs are the 6th worst defensively vs opposing small forwards in their past 5 games so either of these players could be the difference between Money Mountain and being at the bottom of the slate looking up. Both players have the ability to show up in this matchup tonight. Keep an eye out on the injury report as mentioned.

Jimmy Butler (MIA) @ TOR ($7,600) SG/SF

Butler has fallen back to Earth after going on a nice hot streak a few weeks ago where he was putting up 40-50 FPTs per game. Butler has a nice matchup tonight in Toronto, The Raptors are a very good defensive team but they do have trouble guarding the small forward position. Butler has a nice price tag on him and I think he will be low owned due to the matchup. Do not fear this matchup, Toronto is the 7th worst team defensively versus opposing small forwards and the worst team season-long in the category. If Butler gets hot tonight, I could easily see him put up 6 times value at this price. Nice mid-tier option tonight. Get him while he’s cheap ladies and gentleman.

DeMar DeRozan (SA) vs. HOU ($7,200) SG/SF

Another solid mid-tier option tonight is DeRozan, especially if Aldridge sits this one out with his lingering thigh injury. DeRozan is a nice safe option here at the price and Houston is not very good at defending forwards or any position for that matter. Safe pick with 35-40 FPT upside or up to 5 ½ times value for sure. If Aldridge is out, he’s a must add to your lineup tonight. Watch the injury news leading up to tip off.

Aaron Gordon (ORL) @ WAS ($5,700) SF/PF

Ok relax guys, no I haven’t lost my mind. I just can’t look past Gordon’s price or the matchup he is in Tonight against the Wizards. The Wizards are the second worst at defending the power forward position in the past 5 games. Aaron Gordon is getting 30 minutes per game in his two games back since his ankle injury and although he didn’t produce well in his past 2 games.Tonight, the minutes are there, the matchup is great, and it all depends now if Gordon can step up tonight. This is a BOOM or BUST pick tonight, but he has huge potential if he goes off. I say if you’re playing multiple lineups tonight, then there is nothing wrong with adding him into at least one lineup to see how he does.

I mean it is gambling right? Do you wanna go safe all the time? BORING….

Anthony Davis (LAL) @ DEN ($9,600) PF/C

I also like LeBron a lot tonight as well, but I like Davis’ matchup and price much more tonight. AS always check the injury reports on Davis up to tip off in case he gets a hangnail. All jokes aside, he should be in the lineup tonight against Denver and I can’t see Millsap slowing Davis down at all. He is averaging 52.9 FPTs per game in his past five contests and he should have no problem hitting at least 4 ½ to 5 times value tonight. Take advantage while he’s under 10k. Yes, it is a tough matchup but you don’t ignore someone like Davis at this price.

Kristaps Porzingis (DAL) @ NO ($6,500) PF/C

I also have a feeling Porzingis will be low owned tonight and looked over for more expensive stars at this position. I have absolutely no problem starting him in any of my lineups at this nice mid-tier price. The matchup is good. Yes, Porzingis has had his ups and downs recently, but when he’s up! He’s up! Tonight, against the Pelicans with no Derrick Favors, Porzingis may have himself a nice game here. He’s a little volatile but like I said, I can’t ignore the price or the matchup. You shouldn’t either.

Hassan Whiteside (POR) @ LAC ($8,000) Center

Whiteside’s price is a little higher but he also has been on an absolute tear recently in good matchups versus the Bulls and the Thunder. Tonight he faces the Clippers in LA and in the past 5 games they’ve struggled against opposing centers. Whiteside and Lillard have the most value on the Portland side in this game and you may even want to consider stacking them together. In Whiteside’s previous meeting against the Clippers earlier this season, he posted 48.3 FPTs (17 pts, 19 rebs). I’m just fine with him doing that again for us tonight. Solid play at center tonight.

Khem Birch (ORL) @ WAS ($4,700) Center

Need a good punt at center with a great matchup? Khem Birch is your guy. Vucevic is still out so Birch should see anywhere from 25-30 minutes tonight and if he can get a few more buckets than he usually does, has double double potential. This is a low risk/high reward pick here at this price. At $4,700 it’s not unrealistic to think he can reach 5 ½ to 6 times value. A nice sleeper pick to stack your lineups with studs and mid-tier players tonight.

Thomas Bryant (WAS) vs. ORL ($5,600) PF/C

On the other side of the fence, I have no issues with you playing Thomas Bryant with Vucevic out either. The last time Bryant played the Magic in Orlando he put up a respectable 30 FPTs up and Vucevic was playing on 11/17!!  Bryant could do some damage tonight. He’s a matchup dependent center with a good matchup. What more can I say? Play him with confidence tonight.

Clint Capela (HOU) @ SA ($7,800) Center

Capela is coming back from an illness and is expected to play tonight in San Antonio. This matchup becomes that much better if Aldridge is out. Jakob Poetl doesn’t stand a chance tonight and I doubt there will be any minutes restrictions and Capela in my opinion is the best value per production the Rockets have on DraftKings tonight. This could be one of the sneakiest great plays on the slate tonight DFS Nation. Are you listening? Ahem, I mean are you reading? Capela is $$$$$!!!

Final Thoughts:

Remember, I do like LeBron! I just don’t like his price and although he’s pretty much matchup proof. I’ll be spending my money elsewhere. This doesn’t mean that you have to. He is not a bad play at all.

I also like Brandon Ingram, Russell Westbrook, and Pascal Siakam very much but didn’t mention them here because I think they will be chalky tonight. Not saying I wouldn’t play them either.

Jamal Murray is an amazing value tonight against the Lakers at only $6,600. Nice value there. Rondo couldn’t stop a cold.

I also like Kawhi and Paul George but who doesn’t?

Andre Drummond has a great matchup against Cleveland but I don’t love his price $9,100. He has let me down too much when he’s that high priced. You may love him and if you do, play him. I’m fine with that too.

I like Evan Fournier at his price ($6,200). Nice safe play there tonight vs. Washington.

I’m off Luke Kennard because he doesn’t tend to play well on the road even in good matchups. Had he been in the early $5,000 range, I may have considered him. You may love him.

I’m not on Adebayo tonight because Gasol is a great defender. Did you see what he did to Embiid?? Not for me tonight.

Another sneaky play I do like is Serge Ibaka, his minutes restriction should be lifted and he’s only $4,900 tonight. Good value play.

Jaxson Hayes even if he comes off the bench has potential for 6 times value tonight vs. Dallas and he’s only $4,400. He has potential to play 20-25 minutes and is a point per minute machine when he’s on the floor.  I’m more fond of Hayes over Okafor. You may not be.

Bryn Forbes is a value at only $3,800 tonight vs Houston. Boom or Bust but not a huge risk for the investment if you’re stacking studs.

Ivica Zubac played Portland earlier this year and dumped 40.3 FPTs on them and he’s only $3,600 tonight. I’m definitely not saying he will do that again with Harrell playing so well but you never know. Low risk/High reward.

The Core 5:   (These are my favorite players at every position tonight. These are not locks as I don’t believe in ever calling a player a lock. These are my favorite plays at every position and are not meant to be a method of an example lineup. The Core 5 has been a section I’ve received requests to do by our followers of the website and in the fb group I do the article for as well. Without further ado, here are my Core 5.
