Last night was another weird night last night in the NBA. Andre Drummond and Kris Dunn broke our hearts in matchups that looked great on paper, but unfortunately didn’t pan out as expected. Players like Karl Anthony-Towns, Domantas Sabonis, Ricky Rubio, and Russell Westbrook all had great nights as we expected. If you had the right combo of the right players last night, then I’m sure you woke up richer than yesterday. Today is another day in the torture rack we love called NBA DFS. It looks as if we have a very small slate here tonight. So let’s try and find the best possible players we can and try our best to break some slates tonight!

Disclaimer: Remember people, I am not a professional, just an avid NBA fan who loves the sport and loves DFS. We are betting on human beings here which is probably the hardest thing to bet on. Some days we will win. Some days we will lose.  I will never argue with any member of any community about who they want to play on any given night. However, if you would like my opinion on a particular player I will gladly help you any way that I can if you ask me. My slogan is “If you like him, play him”. It’s your money and I can’t spend it for you. If I don’t get back to you right away, it’s because I am just like you and work a full time job and I do this in my down time here. I promise to get back to you.  Some players who are studs I may not mention in detail here in this article but will be displayed in the “Players I like but did not mention here” portion of the write up towards the end. All stats mentioned are accurate as of today and screenshots can be provided upon request. Credit: Fantasy Sports Degens,RotoWire, Fantasy Alarm, and DFS Wolfpack.

Favorite Plays on the Slate:  (In no particular order) ( PG-C position)

Devonte’ Graham (CHA) vs. WAS ($8,400) PG

With the way Graham has been playing as of late, it’s almost impossible to fade him in a great matchup against the Wizards tonight at home. I’m not fond of his price but it was also $9,000 on Sunday night, he didn’t hit value so the price went down $600. The Wizards are ravaged with injuries in their backcourt with them losing Jordan McRae and Isaiah Thomas recently and the Hornets have switched Graham from playing shooting guard to the point guard position. He definitely has made a leap forward as opposed to his rookie campaign and I actually like Graham in this spot very much tonight.  In Graham’s last 5 games he’s averaging 44.9 FPTs per game and we’re going to see another night in that point range for him to hit value for us again. I’m pretty confident he can do it. The Wizards have been keeping up with some decent teams as of late so I’m not too scared of a blowout occurring but you never really know. He’s not my favorite play at point guard tonight but on a small slate you can feel confident spending up in a great matchup against a banged up backcourt like the Wizards. I just wish he was a little cheaper.

Ish Smith (WAS) @ CHA ($5,200) PG

I also like Ish Smith on the other side of the court in this matchup. This should be a high pace game with the point spread at 231.5 tonight. The last time Ish played the Hornets he put up 31.5 FPTs against them and that was mainly seeing a lot of Rozier who is the better defender in the backcourt. Ish should see minutes in the 30’s tonight in this game and is priced right for the matchup. I wouldn’t even mind if you stacked Ish vs. Graham in your lineups together as they both have potential for big nights tonight. Even though his price has risen, I’m not afraid to play Ish at this price, I just hope he limits his turnovers which bugged him his last game. If he can play some mistake-free basketball tonight, Ish is a solid play at the point for the Wizards.

Damian Lillard (POR) vs. NYK ($8,800) PG  **Possible Blowout **

The Knicks have no identity. This team is playing for themselves individually rather than a team and I doubt a coaching change can even change the culture at this point. The Knicks are traveling to Portland tonight and Dame Dollar is a great spend up option at the point tonight. Yes, New York is normally good at guarding point guards but this is Damian Lillard and when Lillard plays at home, you don’t fade him. This year in his 10 home games, Lillard is averaging a robust 49 FPTs per game and 47.3 FPTs his past 3 home games. Don’t you dare not give Lillard a look tonight, it could cost you! Great point guard play tonight against a fractured Knicks team.

Jimmy Butler (MIA) vs. ATL ($9,100) SG/SF  **Possible Blowout **

I love Jimmy Butler tonight at home against the Hawks. Butler’s price is high tonight but with his previous production, I just can’t look past him. The Heat also have a slew of banged up players and Butler should see a ton of minutes tonight unless this game gets out of hand quick. This season, Butler is averaging 41.8 FPTs against the Hawks and we’re going to need to see more production than that to justify his price tonight. Besides the matchup, what makes me feel pretty confident about Butler is in his past 4 games, he’s averaging 57.4 FPTs per game. This pick is risky on the premise of a blowout but if you are willing to make him your centerpiece in your lineup tonight, I’m fine with it. Every player is risky in DFS, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Bradley Beal (WAS) @ CHA ($9,300) SG

Beal is another favorite spend up option on this slate for me and he may be even safer than Butler tonight. I believe the Hornets/Wizards game has a less chance of it being a blowout. Bradley Beal hung 57.3 FPTs on Charlotte his last meeting and at his price tonight on DK, I would love for that to happen again. Yes, he will see more Rozier tonight than he did in his last matchup but in my opinion Beal is the life of this Wizards team and in a decent matchup tonight, I think he will produce very well. The only teams this year that have seemed to slow Beal down were the Nuggets and Clippers which to me says he’s damn near matchup proof because those teams slow down a lot of stars. I’m all in on Beal tonight. One of my favorite if not my favorite play on this slate tonight.

RJ Barrett (NYK) @ POR ($5,500) PG/SG

If you need a great priced player in a good matchup tonight, RJ Barrett could be in play for a nice game tonight. The Knicks give the rookie plenty of minutes, he has been struggling with his shot as of late but if he can make some plays tonight and get some shots to fall, it won’t take much for him to hit at least 4-5 times value. Of course, we want more than that and I think it realistically could happen tonight that he surpasses that mark. Great priced value play tonight in a good matchup in Portland.

Miles Bridges (CHA) vs. WAS ($5,100) SF/PF

I can’t help but to keep attacking this Hornets/Wizards game. Miles Bridges is in a great spot tonight vs. the Wizards. The Wizards are giving up the most FPTs to opposing small forwards in the past 5 games and are pretty banged up. The last time Bridges played the Wizards he dropped 47.5 FPTs on them and he was only $100 cheaper. Plug him in as a nice value play tonight with a boat load of potential in what looks to be a high paced/high scoring game tonight.

Kent Bazemore (POR) vs. NYK ($5,000) SG/SF

Rodney Hood is out for the year with a torn ACL. This opens up minutes for Bazemore tonight against a bad Knicks team like I mentioned above. The Knicks are 4th worst against opposing small forwards defensively and Bazemore could be a nice value play to add to your lineups so you can afford other studs. All we need is 25 FPTs to hit 5 times value at this price! Nice value play here.

Tobias Harris (PHI) vs. DEN ($7,000) SF/PF

Yes Denver is a great defense but we can exploit them at the small forward position. The Nuggets are ranked 9th worst at the position in their past 5 games and Tobias Harris has been Mr. Consistent as of late putting up over 40 FPTs in three of his past four games. Harris also hung 40.5 FPTs on the Nuggets in their last meeting and if he can reproduce another performance like that or even more, then he’s worth the investment tonight. Nice mid-tier option tonight. Slower paced game but doesn’t mean some players won’t produce.

Carmelo Anthony (POR) vs. NYK ($5,600) SF/PF

Knicks are worst at defending power forwards in their past 5 games. Carmelo shoots a bunch and if some land he can get you value in a hurry. I’m not the biggest Melo fan and he has been struggling with his shot but he’s low priced in a good matchup where it wouldn’t hurt giving him a try tonight in your lineup. Melo is low risk/high reward tonight against the Knicks. REVENGE FACTOR!

Julius Randle (NYK) @ POR ($6,400) PF/C

Remember, Carmelo doesn’t know how to play defense. Randle is another Knick player I can trust tonight in a great matchup. The offense should be running through Barrett and Randle if the Knicks are going to try and keep this one close. Blazers are fourth worst against opposing power forwards in their past 5 games. If you don’t like Melo and want to upgrade to a nice mid-tier option, I wouldn’t be mad at all if you put Randle in your lineup. He did just put up a double double on the Pacers. He also plays better away from Madison Square Garden this year.  Nice mid-tier option.

Jabari Parker (ATL) @ MIA ($6,200) SF/PF

This is somewhat of a risky pick but Miami is dealing with some injuries right now so I wanted to add Parker. Jabari Parker suffers from basketball identity disorder. Some games he has a ceiling as high as 60 FPTs and some games he goes out with a floor of 10-12 FPTs. He’s averaging around 28 FPTs per game vs Miami this season but my gut is telling me Parker could be in for a sneaky good night tonight. He also is like Randle and that he produces more in away games than he does at home games. Solid mid-tier option but risky all the same. Your choice whether you play him or not.

Hassan Whiteside (POR) vs. NYK ($8,000) Center

I would mention the whole Blazers roster tonight because it is crazy how bad the Knicks are. All the Blazers play have some risk due to blowout factor but an aging Taj Gibson is not going to stop Whiteside in this matchup tonight. Stats don’t have to explain that. Whiteside is a great option tonight vs. The Knicks.

Nikola Jokic (DEN) @ PHI ($9,000) Center

The Sleeping Giant has woken up in his past two games and I think Jokic has a decently nice matchup tonight against Embiid. The last time these two met Jokic hung 57.5 FPTs on Embiid and the 76ers. I’m not saying he does that again tonight but I can envision these centers going back and forth most of the night. I just think Jokic is the better of the two tonight and he’s $500 cheaper than Embiid. Don’t pay for the name, pay for the game!

Bam Adebayo (MIA) vs. ATL ($8,200) Center

Per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Adebayo is expected to play tonight. He should NOT be on a minutes restriction as he played Chicago with the same injury designation and still played 41 minutes against them. Tonight Bam gets a nice matchup vs the Hawks, He’s averaging over 40 FPTs per game in their previous two meetings this season and if he’s not too banged up should produce for us again tonight. Solid option at center unless injury reports state he won’t play.

Moritz Wagner (WAS) @ CHA ($6,000) PF/C

Total gut feeling here. Wagner was yelled at by Scott Brooks after his poor effort against the Clippers. Wagner is young and he is a proud player. I truly believe this will set a spark under his ass and get him going in this game against a Hornets team that is not very good against opposing centers. He’s definitely worth a look. He’s risky but he also has a high ceiling in this matchup if you don’t want to spend up on Jokic, Whiteside, or Embiid tonight.

Final Thoughts:

Tyler Herro is on fire again and should see a good amount of minutes tonight with a lot of injuries in the Heat backcourt. Atlanta is not a good defensive team and if Herros shots fall, he could be a great player to have in your lineup ($5,900)

I like Trae Young tonight, I’m just not a fan of his price. I’m not saying to fade him. He could be in for a great night tonight against the above mentioned injured Heat backcourt. ($10,400)

Rui Hachimura is a nice play at $6,500 tonight against the Hornets as he’s been seeing huge minute totals lately and has produced nicely. The Hornets front court is weak defensively.

I’m also good with Davis Bertans for $200 cheaper than Hachimura tonight. Pick one it’s a small slate.

Cam Reddish could be a sneaky good play if he can get his shot to fall. He’s only $4,500 and is volatile but it’s a low risk/high reward situation here.

Keep an eye out for Elfrid Payton, This Knicks backcourt is a mess right now and we need to see what kind of minutes head coach Mike Miller has in store for Payton. Ntilikina is not the answer in my opinion. I wouldn’t touch anyone in the Knicks backcourt tonight but Barrett for the time being.

Based on his previous performance against the Sixers, Jamal Murray could be a sneaky play tonight. He dropped 53 FPTs on the Sixers his last meeting with them. ($6,700)

Michael Kidd Gilchrist is back and is only $3,300. He may start to see an uptick in minutes as he saw 23 minutes the other night. He could be a great near minimum player to have in your lineups tonight.

I’m not saying to fade Embiid. You can play him as well if you like him. I personally think Jokic is the better value at Center.

The Core 5:   (These are my favorite players at every position tonight. These are not locks as I don’t believe in ever calling a player a lock. These are my favorite plays at every position and are not meant to be a method of an example lineup. The Core 5 has been a section I’ve received requests to do by our followers of the website and in the fb group I do the article for as well. Without further ado, here are my Core 5.
