What a week in La Jolla. Reedgate, putting problems, crooked numbers, and much more entertainment at Torrey Pines. For the first time in the OAD write-ups’ history, all the guys had the same golfer, and Tony Finau came through nicely with a T2. This week the PGA Tour heads to Arizona for the Waste Management Open. It is a field of 132 with T65 and ties, making it to the weekend. There will be fans at the event, but only 5,000 per day compared to close to 200,000 per day in weeks past. There is a ton of course history and some nice options for this week’s OAD picks. Let’s see who the guys like this week with the 2021 Waste Management Open PGA OAD pick.

Bubba (@bdentrek) – Bubba Watson

This week, I will try and avoid chalk and go with another top-end golfer with some great course history with so many strong choices. Bubba has made three straight cuts and 11 of the last 12 events at TPC Scottsdale. He has finished 3rd and 4th the previous two seasons and 5th or better in five of the last nine seasons. Those of us that follow golf know that there are Bubba courses where he just dominates. This appears to be one and is not talked about nearly enough like Riviera. Give me the lefty Bubba Watson this week in the desert at hopefully some pretty low ownership in the OAD.

Jesse (@DFSGolfGods) – Will Zalatoris

Surprisingly Tony Finau got us a 2nd place finish last week.  I fully expected a missed cut with super mush we all put on him.  Also, expect him to win in Saudi Arabia this week since none of us can use him.  Anyway, on to the WMO.  This year’s tournament will be much different than those in the past.  Only a limited number of fans will be allowed in instead of the hundreds of thousands that typically pack TPC Scottsdale.  For that reason, I like my boy Will Zalatoris this week.  He has never played here but is coming off a solid top 10 at Torrey.  Will also has more top 10s than anyone worldwide since the beginning of 2020.  Best of luck!

Kevin (@KevinsDelight) – Justin Thomas

I say it every year, but this is a fantastic appetizer for the Super Bowl. We’ve got a great field this year leading up to the ultimate matchup between quarterbacks in the big game Sunday night. Last year Webb Simpson stole the waste management right from Tony Finau’s hands, dropping bombs coming down the stretch.

Finau is playing in the Saudi international but webers back to defend. Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and many other great players in the world will tee it up in Phoenix. Finau last week was a very nice payday in OAD. I’m going to fire another bullet this week as I pick a stallion.  He’s not a pony anymore as he’s grown up and wins annually.  Gimmie JT, as I don’t expect him to throw up( “Ralph” )all over himself come Sunday evening.

Rob (@AllDayEvery365) – Louis Oosthuizen

Getting the peak of Tony Finau’s season at the Farmer since he just can’t seem to find a win seems to fit nicely with the start to the year. Three straight top 5s, and we move to Phoenix and go with a guy who probably won’t be too high on the list with Louis. He’s gained strokes PUTTING in seven straight tournaments, should be low owned and gets big fairways to figure out his driver. It seems his back is working again, so sign me up.

Ruvy (@MichaelRuvolo) – Xander Schauffele

Last week we all got a T2 from the top 5, Tony. That feels like the best you’re going to get out of him, so that was a good jump start for our OAD. This week we are going to go with Xander Schauffle. Not every week X will be 11-1 in the odds. The field isn’t great this week, and X is in the top part of this field. He’s played here before, and the limited fans are good for him, I feel at this point.
