I say it every year, but the WMPO is a fantastic appetizer for the Super Bowl.  It’ll be nice to see 5,000 fans per day at TPC Scottsdale as we begin to return to some normalcy on TOUR.  A tremendous field is set for the week, and plenty of great wagering opportunities are present for us to enjoy before we bet on a coin being tossed in Tampa Bay.  Take a look and see who my money is on this week in Phoenix!

Outright Bets:

Daniel Berger ($25 to win $500):  One of my first clicks on Monday, like Daniel Berger, this week.  I feel like he still wants to be recognized with the biggest names in golf.  A win here Sunday, and he’ll be talked about more for MAJORS.

Bubba Watson ($25 to win $875):  Yep, get ready to see BUBBA WATSON’s name littered throughout this article….I hope he can recycle his past success here and bag a trophy Sunday.

Brooks Koepka ($25 to win $875):  His form isn’t great, but this number is….Not many more times, we’ll see numbers like this for the MAJOR slayer.  I look for BK to contend this weekend.

Gary Woodland ($25 to win $1,000):  Gotta love the story with Gary and Amy Bockerstette…The Golf Gods help him last Sunday at Scottsdale.

Top 10:

Bubba Watson ($25 to win $75):  I’ve got BUBBA everywhere this week….Not a significant number here, but his CH is too good to ignore.

Ryan Palmer ($25 to win $88):  He’s playing great and ranks high in all the models.  The guy can’t win, so might as well grab a TOP 10

Matt Kuchar ($25 to win $138):  He loves the desert, and CH here is good.  It’s not much recent form to go off, so it’s a little tough to pull the trigger here, but I’m in on KUCH.

Max Homa ($25 to win $138):  A home game for HOMA, and his game is rounding into form.  Easy play for me this week.

Benny An ($25 to win $175):   His form is solid, and CH is nice.  Benny An for a TOP 10 easy!!!

Head 2 Head:

GARY WOODLAND ($50 to win $58) vs. Rickie Fowler:  I like Woodland to contend this week, so this play makes a lot of sense.  Rickie likes the place for sure, but I’m not sold on backing him yet!

BUBBA WATSON ($63 to win $50) vs. Jason Day:  It’s a BUBBA week, and man, it’s a tilting event before we tee it up.  J Day looked lost last week, and he could always have a back issue if he gets off to a rough start.  Gimmie the guy who is #1 in my model for WMPO.

MAX HOMA ($60 to win $50) vs. Adam Long:  Like where HOMA’s game is headed.  Good enough for me to pull the trigger.

First Round Leader (FRL):

$100 in play and love this group….Guys who can take it deep, but we don’t need to worry about them after Thursday.

I took the last two weeks off after hitting Kokrak at SONY, looking forward to seeing how these FRL plays pan out.

Brendan Steele ($25 to win $1,125)  Love this play as Steele has some excellent success here, mostly when he was on top of his game.  2 straight missed cuts here, but he’s a much better player now.  Don’t be surprised to see a 63 out of BS Thursday.

Sebastian Munoz ($25 to win $1,250)  Mentioned at TOC that Munoz is nearly an auto FRL play.  I’m on him here!

Keegan Bradley ($25 to win $1,250)  Another guy who likes to go low Thursday then toy with the CUT LINE come Friday afternoon.  His ball-striking stats lend to him going low soon.  These flatter greens can certainly help him here!

Henrik Norlander ($25 to win $1,250)  Had a nice week in San Diego and typically gets hot for a few weeks at a time.  Let’s hope he catches fire starting Thursday.

I hope you’ve been able to tail the plays to start to 2021 as we are up to $2,073 after TOC, SONY, AmEx, and Farmers.  Harris English began the year with a W at Tournament of Champions, Jason Kokrak got us a 3-way chop for FRL at SONY, and Si Woo Kim brought us a nice payday of $1,375 at AmEx.  After a wash in San Diego, we look forward to getting back to winning some cash!
