Well, the wild week that was the WGC Matchplay is in the books. Congrats to Billy Ho, and shame on all the high seeds that went home early. It was a rather blah week for most, except Ruvy, who benefitted from Garcia’s walk-off ace. Now we head to San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. We are back to a whole field event with a cut after Friday. The field is not that strong with the Masters right around the corner, but we will make due. The course has birdies plenty when the wind is down, which may not be the case early this week. The cut could get wild at times, so buckle up. Let’s see who the guys like this week with the 2021 Valero Texas Open PGA OAD Picks.

Bubba (@bdentrek) – Corey Conners

The field is dreadful this week, and I do not want to use the bigger weapons with the Masters next week and other big tournaments to come. With that said, I will be using Conners. He is the defending champion, which usually does not bode well for a repeat, but that was two years ago, so does it even count? He has also made both cuts in his two appearances, the first place already mentioned and a 26th place finish. He finished 61 at the match play but had a strong 7th at THE PLAYERS and a 3rd at the API. I’ll take my chances that the T2G game stays strong, and he can bring home some nice bacon this week. Brendan Steele was my second choice for anyone looking for a pivot.

Jesse (@DFSGolfGods) – Corey Conners

Last week, Kisner was very close to making it out group play, but we bank the money and move on.  I am way behind in my contest, so we need about 12 Hail Mary’s in a row.  This week I will be using Corey Conners in hopes that he goes back to back here.  He has two straight top 10s and, of course, is the defending champion.  Best of luck!

Kevin (@KevinsDelight) – Matt Kuchar

Match-Play stunk…Now we get an event I don’t care about…Valero?!?!  I loved the Shell as a lead-in to Augusta, but we get Valero instead. Ok?

Charley Hoffman, Matt Kuchar, and Jimmy Walker jump out at me. I think the fact many HATE Kuch right now plays into my hand. I’ll take that big goofy twat here in Texas.  Let’s go MOOCH, or is it KOOCH?

Ruvy (@MichaelRuvolo) – Harry Higgs

Well, this week, I’m getting a little weird. I feel a long shot wins this tournament a lot of the time. I think this trend continues this week. The guy I’m picking ranks 1st last four rounds, 1st previous eight rounds, and 5th last 12 rounds in my model. I know that is all pretty recent, but I used this method picking Ortiz at the Houston Open. I’m going with Harry Higgs this week. He just fits my model so much. I bet him 130-1. He lost, putting last week he played, so he was hitting the irons well. Maybe this week, he putts a little better.

Rob (@AllDayEvery365) – Si Woo Kim

Vik’s week was horrific, and he only came to life on Friday’s final couple of holes. We stay in Texas for the Valero for the granddaddy of them all next week. Si Woo didn’t have the best week at the match play but has some success here, and with some potentially windy conditions, hopefully, his ball-striking sticks out.
