The PGA Tour is back at the RIV and we get a real golf tournament. The Genesis Invitational, formerly the Genesis Open, is now only 120 golfers and has a massive price pool. It is Tiger’s event and thus an absolutely loaded field. When Tiger calls, everyone comes to play. Over half of the golfers in the field will make the cut, which makes getting a golfer through to the weekend somewhat easier. With the loaded pool we should have some interesting standings after this week, but for now Bubba hangs onto his lead after another solid finish with Jason Day. Let’s see who the guys like this week with the 2020 Genesis Invitational PGA OAD Picks.

Ahh back to normalcy on the PGA TOUR!  A 36-hole cut, a full field of Professionals, and a classic track.  Guys I’m targeting this week obviously include Bubba, DJ, Rory, to name a few big guns.  My only concern is I’ve been awful to start the year. A Stallings MC last week has me really wanting to punt this segment and go stallion after stallion starting in segment 2. I’d rather take a flier here than waste a big name who could be highly owned. I’m going to go with a guy who is playing well and has a nice course history. He may be typical West Coast chalk but will be overlooked because the field is ELITE!  Gimme Charles Howell 🏒🏒🏒. Best of luck.

Well the Sunday collapse happened at Pebble to another guy I picked for OAD.  The good news is I don’t have a missed cut yet (knock on wood), but I am behind in everything.  This week I am going to burn Bubba. He has won this tournament every other year since 2014 and is fresh off a 3rd place finish in Phoenix.  This is also a bit of a hedge for DFS purposes. I think he will be very highly owned there, so at least if I fade or am underweight I still have a rooting interest.

Those that listen to the Always Pressing PGA DFS POD already know my OAD pick this week. Bombers thrive at Riviera and course history can run wild. First, I will be taking a known bomber. Second, course history is beautiful for this golfer. He has made 6 straight cuts at the Riv, including a win, 5 top 10’s and nothing worse than a 16th place finish. He couldn’t putt on Sunday at Pebble and ruined a decent week, but finished 2nd at the Saudi. He is healthy and looking like the dominator of old. Hopefully Paulina is ready for a Sunday night victory lap after Dustin Johnson wins the Genesis Invitational.

Recapping last week Hovland made the cut but did very little. Onto the next week.

This week is a tough field on a. Tough course. I’ll be going with a stud this week! While the win equity is small the ability is large. He’s playing gray golf as we know. I’ll go with Tony Finau this week. Can i get the miracle win from Tony? Maybe…maybe not but it feels like a safe play.

Adam Scott – Let’s ride the wave of the Adam Scott journey shall we? Coming off another disappointing Sunday finish with our pick Viktor Hovland, we look towards the Aussie in his first start of the PGA season.

His stats might not look impressive, but his last tracked tournament was the Shriners back in October, where he lost strokes on his approach game for the first time in five months. His most recent tournament was a win at the Australian PGA Championship by two, with three rounds in the 60s.

He heads to a track where he’s garnered success with three top 10s and some of his best putting displays he’s had on tour. If he puts together a solid week with the irons, he should be near the top of the leaderboard in this start studded field.
