Engineers and Architects know how strong a triangle can be. In fact, any structure requiring a strong and rigid construction depends on the triangle to reach that goal. The ancient Egyptians used the power of the triangle to create the great pyramids that have stood for nearly 5000 years. In 1971 another triangle in Pocono, Pennsylvania was made. The irony is, this triangle, has turned into the weakest race on the NASCAR schedule. Even though Pocono may not keep you on the edge of your seat this weekend, there is still money to be made! This is not a week where dominators are gonna be that important. With only 160 laps being ran, there won’t be a lot of dominator points to go around. The top lap leader over the last three Pocono races only averaged 73 laps led. Sure, we still would like to pick right on the dominator, but we don’t need to force 2 doms into line ups. I will be focusing on making balanced lineups with guys I believe will turn in top 10 finishes. Definitely not going stars and scrubs this week. Just like in June, it is gonna be tough to pass this weekend, but there is still gonna be some guys that will deliver on PD, nailing those picks is what will make or break your lineups! Remember this week is another impound race, so do not set your line ups until inspection is finished Sunday morning! Cars who fail will be sent to the back and  their official starting position will change. We haven’t seen too many failures the last two impound races, but saw a ton before that. There may end up being guys who I don’t mention here that will turn into chalk plays after inspection, so follow me on Twitter @dfsnascar to get up to the minute info!

Dominators Picks1. Kevin Harvick $117002. Kyle Busch $123003. Joey Logano $9800

Kevin Harvick – Look, it’s no secret that it is gonna be super hard to pass the leader under racing conditions this week. For that reason, I got Harvick getting out front from the pole and leading the whole first stage of 50 laps. That alone gives him the dominator edge! If your not convinced, add the fact that he has momentum from his first win of the season, and is at a track he finished 4th at twice last season, leading a combined 119 laps!

+9k Plays

Joey Logano $9800 – Logano comes into this week riding a wave of 5 straight top 10’s, including a win at Michigan. He also has Top 10’s in 2 out of the last 3 Pocono races, with a 7th in June. He fits right into our strategy this week as a nice safe play, and has an outside chance to lead some laps.

Ryan Blaney $9100 – Blaney is one of the drivers I’m targeting this week for PD points. Blaney has a 6th and 2 12th place finishes in the last three races at Pocono. He also has finished 13th or better in the last 5 races this season, he appears to have put his early season woes behind him. When you combine that with being 8th in speed in final practice and a 20th place starting position, you get Top 10 Upside and great PD upside to boot!

8K Plays

Eric Jones $8300 – “That Jones boy” is my favorite play in the 8k range! The kid was bad fast in Final practice and his car looked awesome getting off the corners. He also finished 3rd here in June, and 5th in this exact race last year. Jones  enters this race off a pair of 3rd place finishes at New Hampshire and Kentucky. DK also dropped his price $700 this week, making him a sweet bargain that could very well end up in victory lane this week

Kurt Busch $8700 – The elder Busch sees a price drop of $500 this week making him a great value! Kurt showed some speed Saturday coming in at 2nd fastest in final practice. Kurt has been up and down this season, but did record his first win of the season in Kentucky 2 weeks ago. He rolls off the grid 9th and finished 9th in this race last season. Not a ton of PD upside here, but definitely see a top 10 run outta Kurt!

Kyle Larson $8500 – Larson is my PD target in this price range. He had some trouble in practice and is in a back up car, so he will start in the back. However his 29th place SP gives plenty of PD upside! Larson enters this race with Top 5’s in two of the last 3 races this season. He also recorded a 2nd at Pocono last season, and led 35 laps here in June before he had troubles. Larson also proved in June he is one of the few drivers who can pass here with this package, recording 35 quality passes, 4th most in the June race.

6k-8k Plays

Chris Buescher $7400 – Buescher continues his PD domination on the season! This guy just continues to show up and perform week in and week out. Again he has PD upside starting 28th this week. Buescher has an amazing AVG PD of +11.8 in the last 5 races this season. True to his form, he  finished 14th in the June Pocono race from the 24th SP. just plug him in and don’t think twice!

William Byron $7100 – Byron has shown speed off the truck this week coming in 2nd and 4th in speed in both practices Saturday. Byron appears to have turned a corner as of late, and returns to a track where he finished 9th back in June. He also led 25 laps from the pole in that race.  Byron recorded a 6th place finish in this race last year to go along with his success here earlier this season. Starting 8th this week, I like Byron to finish right around there, with slight Top 5 Upside. Definitely a great value!

Ryan Preece $6600 – Preece is about as close to a punt as your gonna get from me this week. Preece gives you some great PD Upside this week starting from P25. He showed solid speed in final practice finishing in 8th on the charts. I don’t think he has the upside of his practice speed, however I could see him improve on his 23rd place finish in June and crack the Top 20 this week.

Matt Dibenedetto $6400 – It’s hard not to jump onto the Matty D bandwagon this week after last weeks Top 5 run. Something seems to have clicked with that team as they have showed up to Pocono with speed again, coming off the truck in 10th in the first practice, and backing it up finishing 3rd in final practice. It’s hard to imagine another Top 5 outta Matty D this week, but he can realistically finish right around where he starts in P13. You can’t ask for much more outta a guy with a $6400 price tag. .
